Halloween Special 2023 Haunted Places in the UK: East Sussex, Scotland, Cornwall, Northern Ireland

Welcome to the Halloween Special 2023!
Today, we are going on a journey to look at the hauntings and stories at five places across the UK. Who is the ghost that haunts Lamb House in Rye? Is Leith Hall one of Scotland’s most active homes? Does the ghost of a famous person haunt a theatre in the North East of England? And who is lurking in Carrickfergus Castle?
Some of the stories focus on historic events and I hope you feel that my video covers the sad side of history in a respectful and honest way, without the need for sensationalising the past. Please stay tuned to the end to hear a small post script from me, Nicola, where I’ll share some thoughts on the Carry On film stars including some excerpts from The Kenneth Williams Diaries.

Thanks for the wonderful ghost stories, Nicola. I'm very sorry for your loss, of your beloved Colonel Mooncat. I lost my cat named Pinky a couple years ago. I loved her so much. I know exactly the pain of never seeing her again. Awful. I'm glad you had a chance to take a stroll out with your friend's little dog.

I am too sad for your loss,only just read about ❤🐈❤ RIP over 🌈bridge. I have lost afew over my years of rescued cats. I have my 7th now my beautiful Mr Figgy he is about 6. I'm 66 so he maybe my last, but who knows,they find us I do believe ❤

So sorry to hear about the beautiful Mooncat. My tabby died in 2016 and he is still much missed. Cats are such characters - no wonder the Ancient Egyptians worshipped them. Many thanks for another excellent video.

Firstly, I'm so sorry to hear about Colonel Mooncat. She was absolutely stunning, and looked so happy and content, when cats often look thoroughly peeved with the world and everyone in it. She must have loved you very, very much, and imo still does. It's awful for you and anyone who's suffered the death of a much loved pet though, so please take extra good care of yourself. The video was fantastic as always. The Sid James and Les Dawson story scared me silly when I first read of it, but you had more details which made it even more terrifying! It's easy to picture it in your mind's eye, I suppose, and you're very gifted at telling stories so vividly. Thank you so much for this video. I hope that you enjoyed making it as much as we all did watching it. ❤️💕💐

I don't think I'll ever cease to be amazed by your talent and skill as revealed in your videos! You are a truly gifted artisan and storyteller. I appreciate the amount of time you must invest in creating these films for us as well as in reading and responding to a lot of the comments. It is so very hard to lose a pet. It's like losing a part of one's self, isn't it. I'm glad that your friend has a rambunctious little fellow to help with your loss. Take care of yourself.

Oh wow thank you ever so much. I am really moved by your kind comment. I was a nervous wreck before the video was released (I am every time) but I am so pleased people enjoy watching them. Yes, losing a pet is very hard but I know she had a great life. My friend’s little dog is fun too and a welcome distraction! 👻🐱🙋‍♀️❤️🐶

Excellent video again Nicola. I too am a huge fan of Kenneth Williams! And yes, his diaries can be a hard read😞 Also, so sorry to hear of the loss of your beautiful grey baby. I lost my 20yr old Lily back in April so know how tough it is, as cats are the best! x

Thank you for this! It was the perfect ending for Halloween and my traditional month of horror movies and ghsot stories. So sorry for the loss of your Mooncat. My departed cats are all buried in a friend's churchyard, and even though it's been years and there are younger cats with me now, I still light candles to my original tribe in the church and then go out and stand in front of their plinth, thinking, smiling, ghost kitties flitting through the trees.

Excellent as always. I am also so very sorry for the loss of your beloved cat. I highly recommend you look into stories of haunted Guernsey - I lived there collectively for 20 years and there's plenty of ghost stories connected to the island, especially as it was occupied by German forces during the second world war.

My darling cat Frisbee passed in 2010 of unknown causes, although the husband and I felt it was some sort of cancer. We had adopted her in 2000 from Citizens for Animal Protection and she brought such joy into our lives. We were devastated as I am sure you were too. Many blessings.

Thank you so much for this wonderful Samhain/Halloween treat! My favorite story is that of Lamb House; I was surprised by so many famous writers that lived there. No wonder M.R. James and E.F. Benson wrote so many ghost stories! Your photo of Mooncat in the iconic handkerchief hat gave this a touching, yet comic note. I was looking at pictures of some of my late cats tonight; I miss them so much. At least you know you gave her all the love and care you could; that must be a comfort. My friend recently had to take her cat in to have her put down. She was over 20 as well and had gotten to the point where she could barely eat or poop and she couldn't stand to see her drag along so painfully. It was the most difficult thing she ever had to do. Mooncat must have loved you greatly and not wanted to leave you. Please take care.

Yes, she didn’t generally wear a hat made of tissue but I was bored. Once I put a business car and a pen on her head and it took her 5 mins to realise it! She wasn’t the sharpest tool in the tool box but she was very needy and I miss her so much 🐱👻❤️

It’s funny you mentioned Jack the Ripper regarding that last post card because I also recognized the writing from the post card to Jack’s. It’s certainly very curious. I thoroughly enjoyed this episode and the there were some lovely haunted locations mentioned. Thanks for showing some pictures of the late lovely Mooncat. @@ghostcasebook1266 It was weird; the minute I saw the handwriting, especially those loopy lower case parts of letters, my mind jumped to that it looked like all those letters I had seen of Jack the Rippers. And THEN you mentioned his name. Creepy as anything but what if it is his? Gives me the shivers. Great Britain is such a magical place. I used to spend 2 weeks there every chance I got, exploring all kinds of neat places. The ones you mentioned were all new to me.

Colonel Mooncat was gorgeous, probably still is, if you think you've experienced her nearby. I had my cat, Martha, whom I swear I heard her distinctive "meow" one night before bed, a week after she passed on. As always, I loved the video and looking forward to the next one. 😊

I am sorry for your loss. Coincidentally my friend & I picked up her cat today, from the vet & we’re preparing for the inevitable. I think it’ll be harder on ME, but I’ll do my best to get her through.

so sorry to hear about you losing your cat. I was devastated when I lost mine so I know how awful it feels. I hope another cat crosses your path soon. if you have a loving home to give the universe has a way of bringing new animal friends into our lives. really fascinating video & I agree Les Dawson was such a down to earth person he wouldn't have made that ghostly encounter up. I remember reading that the out of tune piano playing Les Dawson was famous for is actually very difficult. he must have had great musical talent to mess the music up like that but have it seem so natural. I'm nearly 53 & it's staggering to me how many famous people I clearly remember from my childhood that qre sadly departed.

The love of a pet is so precious. Recently a friend saw, and briefly interacted with, my sister who was carrying her beloved little dog - both passed on a few years ago. This gave me hope that when I pass, I will reunite with my spaniel Dr. Watson (called "Watsie") and cockapoo Friday. Your friend's dog is adorable.

Awwww my heart goes out to you. I have a cat and I love him like a son. I had a rat that I mourned for months and months. They are indeed our family, a blessing, and take up a special place in our hearts. I do hope it hurts less and less everyday however, we will never truly not miss them. I am so sorry to hear of your fur-baby’s passing. That’s a large void to fill, especially difficult when they live to 20. My JJ lived to be almost 19. That’s like raising a child to adulthood. The little puppy that you took for a walk is so cute. I’m glad he’s somewhat easing the pain in your heart. I love this video very much. I met Kenneth Williams in Harrods of all places on a school trip when I was 13. I heard his famous "oh no" before I saw him. I was over awed by his presence and nervously said "Hello Mr Williams" he instantly replied "oo a little Scottish Lassie in London, how very quaint" He was absolutely charming and I loved him ever since. So, so sorry to hear about your cat. My cat Hugo is my life now. I have been left extremely disabled by Covid (Emphysema, COPD and atrial fibrillation) I can no longer work and Hugo just makes everything better....sending you much love

Your stories were very well told and fascinating .I worked with a lady who acted alongside Sid James in Bless this house. I am sorry for the loss of your cat. I have two, I seriously was unsure whether to have any more after my previous 2 dear cats passed away to much heartbreak. After 9 months or so I acquired 2 yr old brothers and they bring me joy. I know their demise will come, hopefully not for along time,but the fun and pleasure of having them now doesn't change what I felt for other pets, they are missed and will never be forgotten❤

Wow, one of your best yet. The locations and the stories, all interesting even without the ghosts, which of course gave spice. I am sorry about your pretty kitty; My little cat passed away a year ago, and I feel she's still around, not so much as a ghost, but as a continued loving presence. Side note: letter from my sister today tells me that a family friend, whose husband of near 70 years, passed away just over a year ago, has pictures jumping off the wall, photographs vanishing fromone room to appear in the other, none of it spooky but puzzling her; we reckon her husband, a real sweetheart, is leasing her!

About your cat- so sorry for your loss. It broke my heart to lose my cat too. When I lost him, I privately asked him if he could just visit me one more time. The next day, my son said he had seen a cat walk through his room just as he was waking up. This had been my room, originally. My son knew nothing about my request to my cat. X
