The key points to note about the UK version is that the actors who play Captain, Fanny, Pat, Julian, Thomas and Robin are the co-creators and writers of every episode. They’ve known and worked together for years they know every character inside out. The Captain is based on the teachers Ben Willbond encountered at his military oriented boarding school as a child for example. In addition the entire series is filmed on location, there’s no sets used, and the BBC had enough faith from the outset to allow them to film it in a period drama style with a suitable budget to pull it off. It just all adds to a wholly different feel, even if the premise and essential elements are the same.

I love how they couldn't have the version of Julian actively trying to kill her like in the original. Also how everyone is clean, thinner and younger. Very American really.

The British `Ghosts` is so under stated , the house is falling apart , the husband is not really sure of what`s going on and the calm wife is the glue that holds it all together . It just flows , not forced at you .

What I find funny is that in the BBC version Allison and Mike don’t have any money at all in something which we know as been run down since at least the 90s. In the US version has got working electricity and looks very clean and they have work started straight away plus can afford for this Allison to be in a hospital for 2 weeks and the work is still going.

The original BBC version is fantastic. But I'm from the UK so it fits our humour profile better. This version is made for Americans, and don't mean that negatively, it's merely a case of who your core audience is.

Immediately the change in camera quality, lighting and colour grading is so noticeable! Probably the most instantly noticeable difference. It's never not fascinating to me how the US over saturate their comedies, and some of the original rawness is lost as a result. It always makes it seem so much faker, but then I guess that's what budget looks like in the US 😂

Bbc ghosts is definitely a show that can't be adapted for American television. You can tell just from this 2 minute clip that it is soulness and devoid of any personality. For the people who haven't seen the show that this is based on, I highly recommend it! It is a charming found family show with too many lovely characters to count. Anyways, sorry british people for this.

it could be worse. Atleast they exchanged the plague victims, for cholera victims. And the soldier is from a war that fits the location. That being said, i still prefer the original.

Comedy shows haven’t been able to make me laugh in a long time (depression) but when i gave this show a try i was rolling in the first few seconds. I loved all of them, it was such a lovely way to pass 30 minutes. I’m now on a mission to find the original because i love the concept a lot :)

Honestly the thing that annoys me the most is that 50% of what makes BBC ghosts work for a lot of people is the cast 😭 The cast are people from horrible histories, a too funny for its own good history TV show from cbbc loads of British teens and adults grew up with and that's what gave ghosts its charm. Stand alone british ghosts humor is amazing but it's like taking away the cast of mamma mia.

I watched all three British series of this show before I saw the American version - and the American version is growing on me. It has some changes that put me off at first, but have really grown on me. I especially love the Viking and the hippie chick - some of her throwaway lines are hilarious!

Even the house doesn't look stunning at all. The one in BBC was seeming much more mystical. Wish it could be continued a few seasons more. The connections between the cast were heartwarming, it was more than being funny to me.

I could understand an American remake if the original show was filled with British only references, but it just isn't. The original is not country specific, and this version is a really poor imitation ( based upon the first episode ).

I watched tonight's episode (11-04-2120) when Pete's wife comes to get his scout manual...it was a tough episode until his daughter Laura brought his grandson, Pete. When the dead ghost saw his daughter and grandson, named after him, I disintegrated...such a beautiful 'what if' supposition...one of the most beautiful moments in filmdom.

Did anyone notice that Hetty the Victorian Lady of the house was also on Modern Family wherein she was trying to buy a house from Phil but was afraid it was haunted? Call it Typecast but they chose the perfect person for the part. I really enjoy cbs's new comedy and look forward to watching the BBC series soon.

Well, I have no idea where to find the Brit version without paying for it. That being said, I like the Anerican version. This being said by a gal who fell in love with the sexy, dashing Captain Daniel Gregg, played the equally dashing Edward Mulhare in The Ghost and Mrs. Muir at age eleven! Right now 'Ghosts' is the only network show I actually watch every week.

Watching this right now. Really enjoyed Rose McIver in IZombie and this is just as great! Quirky, hilarious. Keep up the great work!

How do I see season 1?

Oh, so the dislikes because it's a reboot. Well, not knowing anything about previous version I find this trailer quite charming.

I watched the bbc version first. When I first began the US version, I honestly didn’t like it. Especially the first two eps which were frame to frame similar and it seemed like they spoon-fed audiences, not trusting them to come to conclusions themselves. Also maybe because I absolutely adored the bbc cast. But then as I continued watching, once the plot was established they branched into their own worlds and the characters became their own , no longer shadowed by their counterparts. I genuinely enjoyed it. The stories delved deeper into each ghost’s backstories and the connections bt the ghosts themselves were explored further. I also like the couple here better. The husband is actually helpful and doesn’t let her do all the work. He gets things done and is also great at being a partner she could rely on. I loved that he had some connections n interactions with the ghosts too n not completely sidelined. And the protagonist is genuinely nice to the ghost. She doesnt always use the ghosts for her benefits unlike the BBC one. Honestly that couple was too selfish and dumb for me. They couldn’t have anything done without the help of the ghost. They almost died multiple times if not for the ghosts. I love this couple sm better. Though I love the ghosts in both versions very much. So I hope you all could also give it a try and judge for yourselves .

I really like this show! I hope I am not the only one out there lol. It’s really silly, but also witty. I would probably love the British version even more, which I didn’t know about until now. Is the British version available anywhere? PS - I have since found the British version, and it turned out that we didn’t like it. I guess cultural differences in humor. We are caught up on the show and waiting for new ones. I love all the characters except I’m not crazy about the husband. They made his character too dumb and kind of wimpy lol!

America is great at comedy. They gave us Friends, Parks and Rec, Bug Bang Theory ( well I like it ), Modern Family and so much more. Why oh why do they feel the need to remake British shows? The only example where it worked is The Office USA. I'll probably give this a go anyway lol...
