The Roman soldiers have been seen by quite a few, and Harry saw them in 1953 ,has anyone seen them now in February 2023 ,and how many others have seen this ghostly precession in the last seventy years ,as this year It marks the 70th anniversary ,Harry,s wonderfully lucky to have been there at the right time for fantastic sighting, what a privilege to hear Harry tell you the tale Richard in person.

@@nigelwalker6103 not allowed to go done into the cellar lol,my suggestion would be a live camera accessed by joe public to keep a vigilant watch to spot such apparitions and if still appearing and if a pattern to it at the very least they the owners should be doing this by camera to establish is it still occurring and for research into this fascinating event that’s shows over and over again.

@pauljones1350 They stopped people going down around the time covid became a thing, and its never been reinstated. There are many other reported ghosts in the Treasurers House though, including the last owner of the property before it became a National Trust property and a woman who has been seen in mirrors also a murder apparently took place in one of the rooms which has had reports of ghostly activity.

Why is no one allowed into the cellar anymore? During the video Harry said there was a special viewing platform for them. Thanks for taking us there Richard because this has been an authenticated phenomenon.

That poor man, Harry Martindale, must have been frightened beyond belief. Remarkable story! His honesty shines through the telling. How awful that he was derided at the time he told his sighting.

I'd forgotten all about the story of the Roman soldiers in the cellar. I believe I stayed in York on a school holiday & I think I heard about it then. Hearing about it after all this time is a real treat & from the man who witnessed it for himself. Brilliant. I'm hoping to move to York in a few years. I'll certainly be visiting all of these locations.

Harry's story is the best ghost story in the world. i first heard about it late 70s early 80s (maybe ARTHUR C CLARKES mysterious world) but to have you meet him at the location and have a proper full explanation and keep it for posterity is just brilliant.

I stayed in lady Pecket’s room in the Golden Fleece with my friend in 2016. Around 6am in the morning I heard shuffling at the end of my friends bed and someone clinking the crockery on the tea and coffee stand next to the bed. I thought it was my friend being an early bird weirdo and went back to sleep. Later on that day I asked her why she was up so early making herself a cup of tea and she said “I wasn’t I thought that was you” she actually thought she had saw someone who she assumed was me 😱 we were both still in bed

@RichardFelix did you ever visit or do a video at the York Retreat lunatic asylum that dated back to 1300's? the asylum is no longer there as it was demolished in 2021/22, I previously worked there in 2019 as a chef for the NHS residents and witnessed many paranormal activity in the old cells in the cellar area, there was even the old 1500's wooden doors to the old 1800's padded cells.

Why are ghosts so allusive? This makes me think they are controlled by some intelligence. This is why it's difficult to produce scientific evidence. Example, primitive man thought thunder and lightning was the result of the wrath of the gods. Science has disproved this. If ghosts are real why aren't they popping up all over the place.in the way thunder and lightning does? 4:27
