I miss the grimy dread of Silent Hill 1-3. Soma captured that feeling, but few have since then. The high use of color in this game lends it more to something like a comic book or action game. Shame it's such a weird clash of ideas.

@@HazXbox the acquisition had nothing to do with this game being the way it is, the game was actually supposed to come out last year when they were officially acquired. This game has been in development for years so it’s on them and then alone.

As a fellow Evil Within fan, worth noting that ACG gave The Evil Within 2 a 'wait for a sale' and also called it 'The Enemy Within 2' a few times. I like this dude's reviews for the most part too but doesn't mean I agree with all of his opinions. The Evil Within 2 was one of the best horror games of all time.

Even then I think Evil Within is pretty far from being one of the greatest horror games of all time cause games like Silent Hill, Fatal Frame, and Resident Evil do horror far better

There is nothing like non bs review because everyone has their opinions and people reviews are a personal things. I play the game right now and I'm mostly disagree with ACG review. I love this game and everything is perfect for me. Very good game. But as I said this is my personal opinion. I never pay any attention to people's reviews and I always test the game myself and experience it. I'm happy that I'm not listen to ACG review and buy the game because I enjoyed the game so much. I'm not saying ACG reviews are bad he is very unbiased person and I love it but as I said before reviews are personal things and despite they are good for knowing the game before the buy but experience it personally by myself is somthing else 😃👍

That remains extremely bizarre. The internet loved her and she was just gone. Bethesda and tango got weirdly hostile when IGN asked about her contributions for this game back in 2020.

I started to lose interest when she left Tango Gameworks. I was right to not get hype by this game.

Same, I actually preordered the physical deluxe edition, but apparently you have to get the DIGITAL deluxe edition to get it three days early. So I'm paying 20 dollars extra for some extra skins for an FPS where I will never see my character outside of cutscenes. I'm probably going to cancel today and put that money towards something else.

@@alpha34098 Really? Everything I saw looked like it. At least in terms of quest design etc. it looks like it. Well, doesn't change the fact that the game doesn't look any special sadly.

It's open world. It's actually a really great game but not everyone is going to be enthralled by it. It's honestly as exciting or as boring you want it to be, just depends on how you play it. It is simple in a lot of ways but there's a lot of variety in how you can go about dispatching enemies. The collect-a-thon aspect isn't too bad either, it's mostly spirits you're getting and the other stuff is optional but also pretty easy to find. It's honestly like a loose mix of ZombiU and Skate to me. Horror elements are solid, definitely spooky at times and the sound design puts me on edge all the time, I play with headphones. It's also super chill when you're exploring, that's where the Skate comparison comes in. You rarely feel forced to do anything in particular. It's alot of fun just gliding around looking for spirits and other items. There's also some fantastic songs you can buy from vendors, not OST stuff, actual songs written specifically for the game, those make exploring so much fun. Most reviews don't really mention these songs and that's a huge oversight on their part. These songs completely change the tone of the game and drives home the fact that it's an arcade style game at its core. The story is great too, I'm honestly surprised at how people are saying there's no chemistry or depth between the protagonists. I don't want to give too much away but yea, the more you play, the more you'll see their dialogue change, etc.

@@ACGreviews even more so lately big review sites can’t be trusted because they seem beholden to game companies in some way. Your review in progress is wise, because publishers are ruining games after the fact with anti consumer practices like GT7. Also, big review sites are wannabe film critics now, focusing on story, themes, and artsy elements (Last of Us 2). While important, they forget about if a game is straight up fun or not, and if it’s technically sound (Cyberpunk when it first released).

@@ChesterMan-qd3xj reviews are based on originality. You have to consider the fact that professional reviewers have played through hundreds, if not thousands, of games and eventually the fun factor is not the same. If you explore and follow game reviews for a few years you'll notice that it's originality and innovation that drives scores. The Last of Us Part 2, regardless of our personal opinions, is a very unique game and it does things that almost no game has done. Elden Ring, regardless of the performance issues, is like a spiritual succesor to Breath of the Wild with Dark Souls gameplay and there's nothing else like it. See where I'm going with this? It's not about the fun, the performance, etc. GT7 has online check because car manufacturers demand them to have that, and GT Sport also has it and no one complained. Not sure there's anything GT7 can do about that, short of simply excluding a ton of cars in the next game or just shutting down.

@acg keeps it 💯 While I don't agree on some of the critiques (which usually just comes down to taste), he breaks down the technicals and what to expect, be it good or bad.

@@ChesterMan-qd3xj ACG is the man, if I buy a game I check his reviews first. He's always on point. Mainstream reviewers always seem to have sketchy motives and corruption at the heart of their reviews these days

Funny, cuz when cyberpunk announced they were going first person I had the exact same feeling

FPS games just straight up turn me off.

I think FPS could have worked (a lot of the action sequences do look cool) had they been more committed to it. I was personally hoping for third person action rpg horror (or just action horror). I'm not a fan of survival horror (tried them; wasn't scared, just got bored because I need a lot happening), so I was hoping this was the breakage that would let me try a game from the legendary studio. Except it somehow has the same problem for a different reason for me.

FYI, this is their LAST Bethesda game title before future games become Xbox exclusive. They just didn't want to accept that the last PS game is mediocre.

Unfortunately another of the Sony community has become very toxic and its been getting worse which is one of the many reasons why I skipped the PS5 and went xbox because I've been met with nothing but love and positivity in the xbox community so far

Those are the type of people who get an erection and also love the dickride games that sells DLCs and micro transactions which screw the rest of us from getting a decent COMPLETE games nowadays.

Gameplay wise this game is really boring, only one good thing - world, but textures, models aren't great either

I came back to this after a few months getting it on sale on epic and the game was honestly great I loved exploring the city and after finding out it is very releistic to actual tokyo I got even more engaged. The akiro only segments were horrible though other than that game was very fun.
