Calhoun’s defense held the highest-scoring team in state history to three second half points and held on to beat Washington Co. 27-20 in the 3-A championship battle of unbeatens. Kaelen Riley passed for a TD and ran for one, but the game-winner was a 41-yard double-reverse pass from Baylon Spector to Carson Brown that broke a 20-20 tie. The title is Calhoun's second in four years, third overall. The game was filled with big plays and momentum swings. Washington Co. QB and Ga. Tech commit A.J. Gray had 293 total yards and led the Hawks on early 90- and 76-yard drives, but the Calhoun defense wore him down.
