How to stop leash pulling fast - even in the most extreme cases! Meet Duke, a 150-pound Great Dane the size of a stallion. This dangerous behavior has already injured his owner. Other trainers were unable to help Duke. In this video, you will see Duke’s drastic transformation - in only one single session. At the end of the training session, Duke’s owner cries tears of joy, calling the trainer “a miracle worker”.

We have an 8 1/2 month female Dane . After dealing with a new training company that wanted us to use positive training while using a harness ( which I was opposed to from the start ), the dog was learning nothing . I showed my wife one of your videos , bought a prong collar , and within literally 5 minutes , the puppy finally stopped pulling . Your training videos are amazing . Please don't stop producing them !

So nice to see an owner react with tears of joy when a balanced trainer is providing disciplined leadership to a struggling dog instead of crying because you are "hurting the dogs feelings"....nice that Garrett checked to confirm with her. With just a little balanced leadership we got to witness the GD turn back towards their nickname "gentle giants"

Negative reinforcement works faster than positive reinforcement. But pure megative reinforcement is hard to do in humane ways. Balanced training is best. Purely positive is for experienced people who are willing to take longer to train dogs and get breeds that aren't a potential risk. Doesn't have to be proof collars or e collars. But negative reinforcement in some way works well. Some breeds or individual dogs a bad boy or girl is all you need for negative reinforcement. Others a e collar or shock collar is required.

I completely broke today. Dropped to my knees and burst Into tears. Tried everything training , e-collar. Nothing has worked my 6 month old great dane is breaking me in every way. Was scammed out of 1500 from a fraudulent trainer who disappeared, was told by a neighbor I should be more careful in Florida. With just recently being diagnosed with major medical issues that effect my legs and will only get worse, I wake up every morning and start fresh with her and can't give up on her, but I'm giving up on me. I have been watching your videos and hope things will get better. Thanks for all your post.

Little story: my brother-in-law gave me and my wife a lab terrier pup that was sort of disciplined. Super friendly, but really aggressive and leash reactive. My in law was listening to these so-called positive trainers. So I didn't know anything about dogs and followed his lead. The methods sucked @$$!! I started taking the training seriously and started looking at videos like yours. The results you have mentioned came so fast I was amazed. Taking my 4 legged son brings both of us happiness and he looks at me as the boss now💪🏾💪🏾. Bro you are helping so many ppl out who really don't have the time or money to take their dog to school. Positive only trainers Don't train the dog. They DO malign and condition the owners to reject ANY AVERSIVE TOOL OR MANNER. Thousands of dogs have ended up in shelters and euthenized because of positive only trainers. Balanced training rewards good behavior and CORRECTS bad behavior so that the dog LEARNS what is expected.

My family used to own an English setter who pulled just like this. We didn’t know any better at that point and strapped him to a gentle leader. He pulled through it though, and it scraped the skin from the top of his nose. The infection could’ve killed him… we ended up surrendering him to a bird dog rescue (he was a working dog that we inherited from my late grandmother) where he was trained and re-adopted by a hunting couple. He was so unhappy with us and I feel like if we had known how to manage a dog at that point his life could’ve been so much better! We couldn’t exercise him, he was neurotic, but we couldn’t help him. Training like this makes their lives easier and our lives easier. It boils my blood to see people with pulling/reactive dogs when the solution is so simple!

I found your videos and have used the tools you have recommended and now I’m walking on a loose leash and it takes us as long as I want to walk. I will say I do get death stares from people seeing my dog wearing a prong collar. But he’s becoming a well behave dog, so I’ll take those stares with pride.

Dogs understand energy. My white German Shepherd topped out at 100# but was never that badly behaved with me. But I was lucky, she always gave clues when she saw something the wanted to go after and I'd stop it before she executed and I never had issues. A friend wanted to walk the cute puppy and I had reservations but I knew Daisy wouldn't overtly hurt her. But because the friend didn't know her body language she got taken land skiing as soon as Daisy saw ducks and didn't respect her(flats in wet grass didn't help her). Daisy never dared try that with me. I only used a flat collar with her. But it's amazing to see the joy in people are able to take control without being cruel but with enough negative consequences to make them think and change their minds on their own.

But when it came to the leash, I was never able to keep her from pulling on it like this dog. Decided to try out your training method with her, there was no need for the prong collar since she's a small dog, but 10 mins of walking opposite direction of her and doing the leash pop when she'd get ahead of me, she quit altogether. The strangest part is im on day 5 and she seems so much more excited and energetic around me inside the house. Like she's looking forward to our next walk. Love your videos, really appreciate you willing to share your training methods with the world.

I’m studying to become a trainer and love your videos. You seem to favor the prong over the choke collar? How do you determine which one is best for each dog?
@AmericanStandardK9

Thank you, Felisa! The Herm Sprenger prong distributes pressure evenly across the dog's neck, instead of choking the dog. Many dogs will almost choke themselves out on a choke collar or slip lead, which is dangerous, and unnecessary. With the prong, less pressure is needed for effective, and clear, corrections. For more information on our training style, check out our online courses on diyk9.com. Best wishes for your studies!

I went to a positive trainer that used and recommended harnesses, my dog was reactive to men, dogs, bicycles , and delivery people. At first I thought this trainer would be worth the $500 dollars we spent on the sessions. Both of my dogs are hounds (the one that was reactive was abused before we got him, he is a American foxhound harrier mix), so ultra stubborn and high energy. At first I did what the trainer said to do, but my dog didn't obey. After many sessions of failure the class ended, I got my dog a Gentle Leader to take things into my own hands. He did learn to heel, but boy did he hate that thing! It didn't even cure his reactivity! I also tried to train him on a martingale that was too big, it resulted in the same way. Eventually I decided to do the one thing the trainer said not to do, buy a prong collar. I learned how to size it and learned some training techniques, the moment I put it on him he behaved perfectly! After a few training sessions he would barely react to triggers! Jump forward a few months and his reactivity was pretty much cured, now he is training for CGC, agility, and obedience. Prong collars do work! I also want to add that my neighbor has also trained with the trainer and their dog is incredibly reactive! I want to clarify that my dog that was reactive was an adult when I got him, and my neighbor got their dog as a puppy.

The Problem is that most people don't know how to correctly hold the Lead when using this kind of Coller. Or those without the spikes.. I have seen people swith walking from one side of the dog to the other side without adjusting the collar how the way they hold the lead.

Used properly, those collars can provide "power steering" for big powerful dogs that won't respond. eventually they begin to walk well even without the prong collar on if they learn they get lots of 'good dogs' and treats.
