The physical effort to fly this was impressive! I had a Baby Flite Streak with Cox Black Widow on it in the late 70's. Silkspan and dope finish. I flew it so much that I wore out the engine. Great memories.

LOL I just watched this again and realized how low the wing loading is for it to glide like that. Cool flight!

That was one awesome flight. I remember my Flite Streak powered by a Cox .15 Medallion motor back in 1977 which I bought from Clark Air Base Duty Free shop in Angeles, Pampanga Philippines. Great memories of U/C control flying indeed. I'm turning 60 this year and those memories still give me the excitement of flying circles... "Mabuhay" from Manila, Philippines!!!

Over in MD i was doing the same thing in '77. Flite Streak's, Ringmaster's of course, anything Carl Goldberg, a Magician by Midwest. Cox and Fox. Summer of '77 i bought the Fox 15. i was awful to that engine but those things ran.

Still have my Jr. Flight Streak in the basement with the original McCoy .19. Took the engine off a bit ago, cleaned it up, put it on my test stand and it fired right up after 50 years. Wow, love those old engines.

That is cool! I was 13 when I bought my 1st McCoy .19. I had a paper route and saved for weeks to get enough money . It went on a Jr Ringmaster. Not sure what happened to the engine, likely we wore it out.

Such great memories, it seems kids now days are missing out. I too had a paper route, made money, bought a kit, and a engine, built the kit, and flew it. Sometimes crashed. What a great learning experience for life.. I wouldn't trade it for anything. @@nightnav

As a kid, inverted flight, outside loops and overhead eights were the main challenges, But now that I think about it, making a nice, smooth, graceful landing really was one of the best and most fun parts of a successful flight. You did the ultimate on that. Well done.

I had a Combat Streak in about 1965. Full boxed Fuselage, Upright .35 with Pressure Fuel tank. It was not just quick, but FAST! Like 120 mph fast. even on 70' lines, ya had to pay attention.

My father in law used to have a twin fuselage profile model with a couple of K&B green head motors. He spent a lot of time with it overhead because the tension was so high when just doing laps. For some reason this video made me think of that. :)

I had a couple smaller flite Streak planes with a Fox 35 engine on them.They were so much fun that you could stand facing one direction and just do figure 8s or loops or fly straight above your head for most of the flight.The kids now days don't know what they are missing by staring at their phone all day.60 foot cables and some fuel set the stage for hours of fun when I was growing up.The only plane I never mastered was a flying wing that ended many times splattered all over the field.I was really good and never crashed none of my other planes for years except for that flying wing beat me.

@iskandartaib
@iskandartaib 2 жыл бұрын
@@clforever1 The four engined B-17 used four OS .15 LAs - it was big but wasn't really gigantic. And it was a full blown Precision Aerobatics model. Can't remember where I saw it.. some really big four engined scale model in Britain. Probably a Lancaster. The caption said they used "double heavyweight LayStrayt" (can't remember how they used to spell that word) lines. The pilot had another person holding him with the arms around his waist.

@nightnav
@nightnav 2 жыл бұрын
@@wwill2516 There is absolutely no slack in those lines. To be clear, I'm not the one flying, that is Dan Banjock. He won't fly it if the wind is over 12 mph because it will drag him on the down wind side and almost pull him off the ground in a wing over. It does have a throttle, that wasn't working on that flight, but he will use it to take a break from time to time to rest during a flight.
