GIANT GROUPER CAUGHT ON HANDLINE - Battling A Sea Monster - Deep Sea Fishing In The Caribbean

Last weekend Jlo & I made a trip out to the oil platforms, 25 miles off the North Coast of Trinidad and Tobago in search of big fish from the deep.
We dropped a line down to the bottom, 500ft below the surface and within a few minutes Jlo hooked into a fish of a lifetime.
After an intense 15 minute battle, Captain Dillon managed to bring the fish to the surface. When we finally saw it, we were blown away at the actual size of it. Take a look at the video and experience what it is like being on board, during the battle with a monster!
To Note: We do not specifically target grouper, our target is Snapper and Almaco Jacks. If we do hook into a grouper, they never survive the pull up to the surface, as such they cannot be released. However, they are great eating and nothing ever goes to waste.

I yank out my charger from my phone twice while watching this video and helping captain Dillon pull that fish 🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️. Pulling it out of such deep water with high pressure out into the surface with lower pressure, it got the "bends" which will kill it. You could only release shallow water fish. I too am sorry for such a majestic creature.

Unfortunately after you pull a fish up from that depth (500ft), there is little or no chance of survival. Whilst grouper is not our targeted species (we are after snapper and almaco jacks), none of it went to waste and it would have fed many families.

This video was like opening my favourite present Christmas morning. Was eagerly awaiting this. That grouper was awesome, my shoulder got tired just watching it being pulled in. Well done. Best fishing channel on the planet. What test size mono, hook size and did you put on multiple live bait on the hook? Also what size weight you use out there?

Glad you enjoyed it bro! It was an awesome fight indeed! I listed the specs of all the gear in the video itself. You can check it out...It actually took a piece of the fresh bonito that I caught jigging! Think that was the trick! Weights range from 2 to 10 lbs depending on current.

You can't throw back a fish like that after you pull it up from 500ft...It will not survive. None of it was wasted. It was eaten by many people.
