I went to purchase D4000 and here in India we get only 1 year warranty, so I had to back off. Glad you guys are getting good warranty.

Definitely curious how it compares to the Monolith 12” v2. Smart move on their part putting price and features between the Monolith and SVS offerings, but still looking like a better value.

The monolith 12 can go down to 700 on sales....doesn't have all the dsp and app etc and 300 less rms. So these definitely slide in between the monolith and svs in features but I love my monolith 12s.

I'd absolutely love it if you could/would compare this against the RSL Speedwoofer 12S. That's the sub that I have and it's phenomenal, plus hundreds of USD less than the Tonewinner, so I'm clearly curious how it compares. I'm sure I'm not the only one Spec of Tech, so please make it happen.

X2 - I had an Epik Conquest 18” mini fridge sized sub but had to downsize when I moved to a smaller place. I was about to pull the trigger on an RSL SpeedWoofer 12S, but I’d love to see how this compares

@@4.20.69 I believe that the RSL Speedwoofer 12S will more than hold it's own against this sub costing $300 more, but that's purely speculation. I'd truly love to see you perform a comparison. That said, regardless of the results, I'll not change my purchase. With RSL Speakers customer service and tech support, it's clearly evident their focus is on their end consumer. I spoke directly with the CEO of the company after inquiring with a few questions prior to my purchase. He couldn't have been nicer (Joe) or more honest and open. His words were (paraphrased), "I want you to be happy with your purchase, whether it's with an RSL product or another." How effen cool is that, and I could tell he was sincere. Their focus is the (potential/real) customers. Plus, it's an American company (yeah, I know it's not built of American parts, but hell, it's about as close as we can get nowadays) and direct-to-consumer, so no middleman markups. Please do a comparison if it's within your scope of interest. I know that the Speedwoofer 10 won a lot of awards, and I feel as though this is an evolutionary step forward from that standout star. Please do, though, keep in mind that it is $300 less than the Chinese made ToneWinnerD4000. Even with that said, I like the RSL's chances. Super curious to see if I'm right. Keep up the great content SoT, love it, super helpful and informative.

Great review as always! crazy numbers for a 12. What impresses me the most is the sealed response. May be less output vs the ported, but almost ruler flat without any DSP. Add a second D4000, bombs away! Your thoughts....the amplifier is very powerful, RMS power, and the exceptionally high peak output compared to most other subs. Could this be special sauce that makes the TW's so damn good?

No this subwoofer has a plate amplifier built in. Those are the Arendal 1723 tower speakers beside the subwoofer.

I was looking forward this saturday... Yes, I really was! All the week was doing researches about these ToneWinner subs! Once more, a very nice video, Barrett!! I actually loved to know this brand and their subwoofers. Tell me, please, do you think that the $ 299 more worth, to choose the 15" one rather than 12" one?

I don't blame you, these subs offer a lot for their modest price. If you have a larger or open room, I would choose the 15". If you have a smaller dedicated room, then the 12" should work just fine. The 15" just squeezes a little more low end, and a little more overall output over the 12".

I often see criticism for no magnetic grills on subwoofers but most companies don’t use them on subwoofers for a reason. I only really see them on specific subwoofers that have a different style grill that are both friction fit and magnetic. If its a regular subwoofer grill then they normally use peg’s so the grill stays put and doesn’t rattle.

I agree, that there aren't too many subwoofer companies out there doing magnetic grills. I can't agree with you on your reasoning though my friend. Most don't do it because it's a little more difficult to manufacture and still have it look clean. The magnets need to be recessed in the cabinet with the finish over top. This adds time and cost. I currently own the JTR CAP2400 18" subwoofers, that are down right violent with their bass. The magnetic grill is held on with nothing but the magnets. JTR subs aren't really budget subs, so they provide those types of "luxuries" lol. There are many other subs that do it the same way, but all the ones I know of are a little pricier versus something like the Tonewinner.

@@SpecOfTech yea, I don’t know many subwoofers that have it. But a bunch of speakers do. So, I think it’s safe to assume that it’s subwoofer specific for why it’s not done. If there were other examples out there of comparative subs that have it then Id think it fair but there really isn’t. Could very well have to do with level of build quality also. Weight, bracing and thickness could all play in.

I know the Tonewinner costs more, but I have no doubt it would out perform the RSL in output, and it has more features. With that said, the RSL is a great budget option also...cheers.

The D2000 isn't a sealed subwoofer, just wanted you to make sure you are aware. The Tonewinner D4000 can be used in sealed mode and is close in performance to the SVS PB3000 in sealed mode. I would recommend the D4000 in sealed mode.

It would be interesting to test these at ~230V 60Hz. I suspect the amplifier's power supply would be more efficient and much happier at ~230V 60Hz vs. ~115V 60Hz. Same with the AD-8300 11ch and the AD-7300 7ch amplifier.

I do use affiliate links, but that is disclosed in my description. If you already have 3 15" Monolith THX, just keep them, they have great performance based on CEA2010 numbers...cheers.

Hey Barrett, could you please tell me if this D4000 can play frequencies the same way, in low and high volumes? I mean, are low frequencies audible even when volume is not cranked up?

The D4000 is very similar, it just doesn't have quite the same output as the D6000. The D4000 has slightly less extension from about 15hz down vs the D6000. The D4000 rolls off faster than the D6000 below 15hz. Other than that, you are looking at just a couple less DB in output.

Went and had a look at both D6000 and D4000. D6000 is humongous. Looking at the specs both amp are the same with 800w RMS. Is it only the loudness of the D6000 is better than D4000. Or does D4000 give a cleaner bass? Cheers

Bought two of these boogers solely on this review.. 😂 So far they are sweet. Sound quality vs SVS PC2000s is basically the same. Did have a ground feedback hum that I just got sorted, but man these things like to pop when they kick on from standby. Did you have that at all?

Glad to hear you're liking them. No I never had a ground loop hum. That is more system dependent, not usually an issue with the sub itself. The amp does click/pop when it comes on. I've experienced that with other subs also, not sure why.

Im interested in purchasing either tonewinner 12 or 15… we enjoy a mix of music and home theater movies. Room is 30x25 in basement with 8ft ceilings. Klipsch Atmos setup. 7.1 What do you recommend ?

For a room that size I would recommend the 15" Tonewinner. I would also recommend getting 2 of them if possible. That will help smooth the response around the room.

To be honest, I think I will shy away from Emotiva AVR & Pre/Pro reviews. I have reviewed 2 of their processors and found them to be buggy. They do sound amazing, but they are just too buggy for me.

Need advice…I’m moving into a smaller A/V room temporary for 1-2 years. Then my A/V room will be large. Should I get the D6000?

I don't see why you couldn't. While you are in the smaller AV room, you could just turn the gain down so the bass isn't over bearing. You would have a ton of headroom too. Then when you move into the larger room you could get 1-3 more D6000's depending on your needs.

This is impressive. However the concern with subs is the warranty on components such as the amplifier. You can count on bigger brands covering you. It’s a risk/reward decision IMO.

I agree. The Tonewinner has a 3 year warranty on the amp and driver. They are actually a large manufacturer, they may even be bigger than some of the companies you consider a "bigger brand". Cheers.

Thanks brother, I appreciate the support. I get what you are saying. But I wasn't saying that this 12" subwoofer kills giant subs like 15" or 18". I was saying it kills other 12" subwoofers that are "giants" in the 12" subwoofer game. Like the 12" SVS subs or 12" Klipsch subs. It's a killer of the giant name brands essentially ;).

If you have a larger room or open room get the D6000 for a smaller dedicated room get the D4000. Unless you want more headroom, then just get the D6000 and call it a day. Any subwoofer can be paired with the AT300 really. A sound processor doesn't really change what subwoofer can be used.

Not, it means the DSP is limiting the output to help save the driver from being over driven.

I might sell my X15s and get sealed where I do more music than movies nowadays. What do you recommend in canada of course around the same price of the X15. Martin logan 1600 I was looking at.

I doubt you will get much different performance from the Martin Logan, they are associated with Paradigm, so most likely very similar performance. Why not get a subwoofer that offers a sealed mode like the Tonewinner D6000? You aren't like the X15 for music?

@@jamiesmith8307 If you are looking for kick in the chest. Just wait a bit, there may or may not be another new subwoofer coming out, that will provide EXACTLY that. I can't confirm it 100%, but if it releases it will be a dual sealed 15" that kicks like a mule on steroids.

They perform very similar, the bigger one just has a little more output. Other than the bigger one have a little more output, they are VERY similar in all other regards.

"Budget" at $1000+? That's not budget, the correct word would be value,The $400 BIC America PL200 II is budget.... And for a very basic bare bones 12" active subwoofer it is very good.

So my question is unrelated to the video... But related to an older video... And this is regards to arendal vs paradigm persona. How well do those 1723 THX towers stack up against that line.

I can't really answer that, I have never owned the Paradigm Persona. I would venture a guess the Persona would be more detailed and more capable of a transparent sound. The price difference is so vast, there is no doubt the Persona would be the better speaker in all categories IMO. Take that with a grain of salt, it is just my opinion with no real world experience to back it up lol.

@@SpecOfTech you also have to factor in that they mark up that speaker probably more than twice of what it's worth. Arendal is direct to consumer... I believe the comparison and price is more like $4,300 US versus 10-15000. Also for a super expensive speaker they're using a lot of plastic still for the housing which is very disappointing.

I think a better comparison would be the paradigm persona 5F which is listed at around $10,000.

Very nice subwoofer. Have you ever tried a sound deadening material on your 🔥 fire place so it can't vibrate ❓ Anyone should be happy with this sub. 💪

haha no I haven't tried that. It only really vibrates when I really push subwoofers hard for demos. During normal listening and movies, it VERY seldom vibrates, except for maybe the most dynamic LFE scenes it will a little. To be 100% honest, I kind of like a little vibration during intense bass, for me, it adds to the realism.
