Lego Minifig sword and shield... for humans! There's something about taking a tiny prop and scaling up the size to fit in your hand. It's the best! Bill used wood and plastic to carve and sand a Lego Castle Knight's sword and shield.

One of my favorite sets was the airplane with the spaceshuttle mounted on it. I remembered wanting it when I saw it as a kid, my mom actually bought it and hid it away. She hid it so well in fact that she forgot she bought it until she found it during some boxing when we moved out our current house, eventually got for my 18th Birthday. Had to wait 10~ years for it, but well worth the wait x]

Your seams look pretty tight but it's a good note to hold everything tight for 30 sec or so. The sockets on PVC fittings are tapered and will tend to push out the pipe till the cement is set. And yes the active ingredient in PVC glue is MEK which is pretty nasty and absorbable through the skin. You will also get some off gassing when you work PVC, so that smell you get when turning/ cutting/ drilling, it is not "great" to breath but not that bad if you have any decent ventilation. I like your tool names! Table saw is a better bevel choice, though you still need a bunch of hand cleanup, but it would get you 90% there. Nice build!

We thought about trying to get a found object to use, but sometimes you need to compare the time it would take shopping around for the right piece vs the time it would take to just make it from scratch. In this case we went with a scratch built piece, but yeah it's super worth checking if you have something on hand that would work.

LEGO was a rare commodity in my house, it wasn't easily available where I lived in the 70s. The only set I had was a generic one for building loads of different vehicles and simple buildings (it's set #911 if you want to look it up) while my sister had one for building a domestic home with tall people and cool little furniture and fittings pieces to make houses and shops, which was set #232. They were great generically themed sets, not too restrictive, encouraging years of creativity throughout my childhood and teen years too.

Did Bill just say he’s going to take his time on something when sanding off the text and bump on the PVC? You are growing as a maker. Good for you! Such a fun build.

If you go the opposite way with the compass, then you won't get stuck on the edges of the tape. Then you'll just drop down a bit. at 39:30

I recently made a plywood bowie knife for a steampunk costume- the bevels were definitely the hardest bit! I used a sanding block, it took ages. With hindsight I should have set up a jig on my bandsaw- something like an angled block I could rest the piece on to get a consistent bevel along the length.

Not sure of any classic LEGO sets, but I LOVE all the star wars spaceship sets. Oh and throwback to Bionicles!

This is amazing. I'm a little disappointed you didn't choose a classic castle faction, but the shapes are spot on! Excellent work! I'd love to make one of these now.

loved this project, so fun and would look great in a kids play room. The only gripe I have is the outline of the lion, I feel a tad more effort could have been used to get it a bit better, but in general this is so cool, great job. I'm starting mine soon ;)

Mars colony set was my fave, also a lot of the molds from that set were used in Star Wars sets.

That was so pleasing to watch you get super excited with your project. Castle Lego was my favourite too, closely followed by the space stuff! I'd really love it if you finished off that Lego stuff as a full costume 🤔😁

Oh my god Bill I love your builds and your videos and books! This one was so hilarious and fun to watch and the end result was fantastic, I'm a big fan of LEGO. You inspired me to start EVA foam making almost a year ago and your videos have helped greatly. Thanks for all you do and for fueling my new hobby!

A very quick and easy tool to use to remove that amount of material is called a Shinto Rasp. Guitar builders (and many other types of woodworkers) swear by them for creating bevels. I would definitely look into one, would likely work fantastic on foam/PVC too!

Fantastic, loved Lego castle sets (and later also the pirates). One thing that nagged me, just Some putty between the shield handle edge and the shield itself (and heeh, Some more sanding) would have really made it feel like one piece, like the actual Lego.

Hey Bill, Great video amazing result as always, you probably already know but if you rock the file in an ark opposite to the surface if makes a lot less flatspots, I picked this up from something about car bodywork and I've done it ever since but that's just down to preference I suppose. Keep up the amazing work 😁
