Very convenient Chris. I am using the 8L Nelson Rigg Hurricane Tank bag these days. I belive it would fit very well on your Tuareg. Of course it may not hold all your camera gear and batteries! - Frank

WOW!!! I didn't seen that one. I have the Nelson Rigg 2.6L Hurricane Dual Sport, which is small and convenient for around the town or day trips, but too small for anything else. And Jason gave me his 11L Hurricane Adventure, which is great for long trips, but it inhibits my movement when standing up off-road. I believe it may have been discontinued for the new 8L model you have, which has a very similar angular design to the Giant Loop Fandango I'm lusting after. Hmmm...decisions decisions!

This is the same setup I used. I bolted and strapped my Nelson Rigg bags to the plates though. Works perfect so far.

@@MotoPhotoAdventures I believe I used the bolts and washers sent with the Giant Loop kit. I used a soldering iron to burn my holes in the bag.

Chris, can you tell me what luggage racks [those metal bars] you use to fasten the backing plate on? I have a new Tuareg which needs soft bags

Absolutely! I think I mention it in the video. But those are from Outback Motortek. I had a different brand that I didn't like as much. These are fantastic! I have a full install/review video about them. I also have the matching engine guards from them. It has so much information, not only about the luggage racks you asked about, but tons of other tips, modifications, and accessories you might like! I love this idea for my Rigg panniers, but…..the GL mounts are $100 *more* than the both Rigg bags. I’ll have to figure out a DIY solution for this because I really want to be able to take the bags off at the end of the day without all of the restrapping the following morning.

Also remember that Nelson Rigg now makes their own quick-release mounts. I'd check to see if their prices are better than the GL ones!

That look pretty nice. How much does your bag and backing plate together weigh?

Thanks! The pannier plate is machined out of a single piece of aluminum. So it's really quite light! And of course soft bags are lighter than hard bags. So the weight of the setup is totally dependant on what you pack in them!

@@MotoPhotoAdventures Your solution looks pretty light. I just wondered what the dry weight is. So I looked it up... GL claims the mounting plate is about 4 lbs (I think that's each plate). Amazon says the Nelson-Rigg Hurricane Dry Saddlebags weighs 5.45 lbs. Regardless, this seems like an excellent way to improve mounting if you already have some bags you like.
