Nice stuff GB! But this makes it even more worrisome for me to maiden my Giant Corsair!! Its been ready to go for over a year, need to get up the courage!!

Corsairs are great flyers and it is rare for a maiden to go this poorly! I am not sure why it was so tail heavy and the other issues, but all of the other large Corsairs I have seen flew great! 👊🏻💥👊🏻

@@GBLynden I’ve seen, not just this video but others too, about aircraft being tail heavy or nose heavy. Don’t RC flyers check the center of gravity to make sure it’s in the proper range before flying? I’m not trying to be a smart guy or rude. I’m genuinely curious. It’s something we do with full scale manned aircraft to ensure that we don’t have controllability issues.

Who was the pilot? They didn’t seem very experienced at all, who flies a whole flight with the flaps and the gear down… Also it doesn’t seem like the builder put any thrust angle into the engine mount it was constantly trying to roll over to the left the whole flight. Aside from the now broken wing that guy as a lot of other issues to address.

I am wondering if it was a rushed maiden at the Warbird event we were at. The pilot is experienced, but was it first flight showing all of the details that were not dialed in. You make some good points about the flaps and retracts, but only he knows lol 👊🏻💥👊🏻

My heart goes out to the pilots. I have the same plane and it's quite challenging to fly. And landings are nothing short of hair-raising. The wing loading is too high to "cut and flop" (cut the throttle and flop to the ground). It tip-stalls easily -- as it did in this video -- and the sheer weight of that beast makes damage inevitable. Nice camera work though.

Great plane Why you didn't have it balanced better is a mystery Also as the owner of several corsairs they do not like flaps on take off at all Just a suggestion

It is a great suggestion. I was just the cameraman for this plane/flight and I agree. This father/son duo likes to live on the edge.

The center of gravity was very tail heavy making it hard to control, along with a few other things. Thank you for watching 👊🏻💥👊🏻

No sir! Look at the wing root on the left side after the landing. It gets more and more clear as the plane gets closer to the camera.

Listen to the sound! So much like a 2 stroke, just kidding, it's tiresome to hear the amount of praise for radials by the minimally informed. Scale RC aircraft are not judged by sound but on construction details. Most of the radials which are beautiful planes and have good scale detail wouldn't be competitive models. Even though radial reliability has improved, they are still more labor intense regarding maintenance, compared to 2 strokes. I would select the most reliable engine for a scale model that has 1000's of work hours in it.

The chain saw sound flying through the air is annoying for many, including me. Electric is the way to go for most and I hope it trends that way. Few things are worse than some prick firing up a chain saw when you are in the middle of recorded an elegant flight.

"Some prick firing up a chainsaw" comment made me laugh . This Corsair now resides in Idaho near Boise I bought it from Mike some time ago and it just might get a UMS180 radial on it after it gets a complete inspection and test flight.
