The Hughes H-1 is a racing aircraft built by Howard Hughes Aircraft in 1935. It set a world airspeed record and a transcontinental speed record across the United States. The H-1 Racer was the last aircraft built by a private individual to set the world speed record; most aircraft to hold the honour since have been military designs.
The guys in the Emcotec Team built these awesome replicas from scratch and they are powered with Moki 250 radial engines. They sound fantastic.

Always loved the H-1. Howard Hughes was a mad genius. These planes are just beautiful and again your quality work showed them off splendidly. As I stated in the Rafael video, when you slo mo the vid, it brings the engine pitch down to sound like its full size counter part. Really highlighted the radial engine sound. Nothing quite like it. Like the bumper sticker on my truck says "real airplanes have round engines". Although I wouldn't shy away from a Merlin, lol. Thank you for posting and God Bless, Paul from Florida.

How do the two pilots keep track of the plane that they're flying? Why would they have them identical (unless I'm missing some difference)?

I fly quite a bit and have done formation. It's not as hard as you think even if the 2 models are same. You can tell which is yours by the inputs you make on TX and what the plane does. Obvious but that's the way the brain works. Cheers Dom (Essential RC)

They are identical because there was only ever one original Hughes H1 built , so there is only one correct colour scheme and registration.

A remote control airplane is assembled with ROTO 50 V2 PETROL ENGINE (50cc). And this rc plane is flying about 490 km during 330 minutes without landing. The spec of the rc plane is as following (below). Is it possible for the rc plane to fly that distance? superspeeed maybe flying like a dog is a bit harsh but I agree that there looks to be a lot of corrections, they don't look to carve the air and they're around 50% (ok, not a measurement Based on scientific fact before I'm checked for it)slower than they actually look. That said, beautiful planes and I'm insanely jealous.

I wrote my comment based on the first minute of flight, at slow speeds they seem like a handful, but at higher speed passes seem to mellow out.

Beautiful planes, pilots need alot of work flying together. I was amazingly unimpressed with this video. they sound amazing but were not near as fast as they look. And again the pilots could put you to sleep with their flying.

You say cheap. I say inexpensive :) I get a lot of fun from my foamies as well as the balsa models I build but there's no way I could justify the expense of a Moki radial engine. So I merely enjoy the fruits of those who can and appreciate these lovely models
