I love how you can’t tell before clicking if “balls” refers to octopus testicles or just spheres made from octopus flesh, and how both are equally plausible bc it’s Emmy.

That's because octopi don't have testicles per say. They have a sperm packet stored in thier head that looks nothing like a ball.

I love to watch your videos and my kids often watch over my shoulder. My 6 year old son just told me, "Mom, I've never seen that before! Are we having that for dinner?" I said no, and he immediately pipes up, "I want to try that! It was BEAUTIFUL!!!" Guess we may be trying something new for dinner in the near future!

I don't know if anyone else played The Legend of Starfy, but as a kid I was always so confused as to why they used octopus in the dumpling minigame... seeing as it's a japanese game they must have actually been making takoyakis!

I looooove this video so much when the mega ones pushed perfectly and were nicely browned on the outside I was so excited. I also feel like Japanese mayo is way different from its American counter part I don't feel as gross when I pack on the kewpie lol. Such a great video Emmy! Thanks for sharing.

Octopuses are my favorite animals, so even if I ate meat I wouldn't be able to bring myself to do so. The other day I saw a restaurant that was listed as having vegan takoyaki and I was excited to try it because takoyaki seems to be everywhere here in Japan but it was a liiiiieeeeee. They didn't actually have vegan takoyaki. T_T

What is takoyaki supposed to taste like? i had some when i was at Uwajimaya in Seattle and idk why but it tasted so bad to me.. like really smelly feet and i tried so bad to like it 😥

It shouldn’t taste like smelly feet. Fresh octopus should have a oceany flavor (like a visit to the seashore) and no stinkiness whatsoever.

if you live in Seattle, try visiting a ramen shop and eat their takoyaki. Kizuki ramen makes them really well! Uwajimaya probably doesn’t sell them fresh and that’s why it smells bad.

Nesha Cruz if you’re not a dough or seafood person, I wouldn’t try them! the half cooked dough inside and pungent flavor from the octopus isn’t for the faint of heart. I like most foods but it took a couple tries for even me to like it.

Now, I fell the need to have a giant takoyaki maker! That's my favorite japanese street food with yakiimo and ikayaki! Since i've been there, i make takoyaki, okonimiyaki and taiyaki at home. I wonder if I could make ikayaki over the bbq grill! Love your videos!
