considering Gibby managed to get a pretty good looking girlfriend I wouldn't necessarily call it fat-phobia IMO and I don't recall there being many if any jokes about his weight, if anything he was one of the more positive depictions of a fat character i've seen.

I think iCarly still holds up pretty well, can't expect every show to have an enlightened portrayal of homeless people, and i'll take that over that stupid and insulting Mr Wendell nonsense that groups like Arrested Development were promoting.

As a kid I thought Gibby was hilarious but as an adult, it’s just strange and gross that Dan Schneider has him acting like a stripper when he is a minor. I don’t understand how Dan Schneider is not in jail or at least on the sex offender registry.

Trust me , you’re going to be triggered more by I’m glad my mom died than turning red. Turning red is tamer but I don’t know how bad your triggers are, but it’s a Pixar movie so you’ll cry. I say if you are good with inside out and up , you’ll be ok but again I don’t know your triggers are and how they affect you. However, do not read her book because it focuses on heavy trauma like you will be angry. I was blown away by some of the stuff she did and said. Do not read unless you have a good therapist on board

its actually kind of wild that dan schneider was able to get away with making a kid take off his shirt and dance. he really pushed the boundaries as to what was appropriate humour for kids shows.

I clearly remember watching several dan's shows as a kid/preteen and eventually stopped watching them all together. I mainly tuned into Nickelodeon for cartoons because so many of his shows made me feel DEEPLY uncomfortable! Im glad you and other creators are talking about it now because I thought I was trippin' at some point. THe feet, the sexually suggestive humor, the fat jokes, the anti-blackness ESPECIALLY towards Black women, THE FEET.... There was so much wrong with his shows and it was really just labeled as teen humor 😐LIKE??? These shows were my guilty pleasure in my household because my older siblings did not find them funny or amusing. We never gathered around on Saturdays to watch Drake and Josh together. But i felt like the humor on these shows mimicked the humor that I would hear among my peers. So I can see how the humor in these shows wasn't alarming to a lot of people back then. YIKES 😬😬😬

I always thought the two biggest problems with iCarly were 1) letting the show go on too long when it was clear Miranda Cosgrove was prioritizing other projects and 2) promoting Gibby to the main cast when he clearly functioned best as a comic relief character.

I saw the pilot already. It terrible as expected of me to say that. As cute as Gibby's dynamic was with the kids was, but I also can't help but feel bothered by the age imbalance between these casts. Like...what would an actor in his late teens or early 20s at that time have in common with and wanted to work with much younger kids? I can't help but noticed these dynamics in some of Dan's shows.

The whole thing felt so off, I mean like, the actors are fine I guess but there's this tone there and I can't place my finger on it. It's so. . . Boring. Things either escalate too fast or the plot moves too slow or the jokes don't land. Not even because they're creepy (They are) but because they were just genuinely unfunny. I couldn't even like it in an ironic way and I can't imagine a cast like that lasting a season. Every character is wackier than the last with no straight man besides the girl they were clearly trying to make the new Sam. Before we get that in Game Shakers with Babe. And they try to make Gibby that role but. . . It's GIBBY. I think that's what felt off the most. Gibby being the most mature person in any situation. Also the sound effects were overplayed. Say what you want about Sam and Cat, at least it gave us a good theme song and SOME of the jokes they made were funny- And it gave us Dice and Goomer.

I thought that that scene with the cheerleaders was so unfunny it became funny due to the fact that it was approved, filmed, had not one but 2 actors hired for, and somehow became the auto-generated thumbnail. All for a joke that would have most likely been cut from the final episode by someone in s&p

Kinda shows that, Dan Schneider kinda fucking sucked as a writer and with how many innuendos he tried to pack in that pilot I wonder just how much stuff gets cut that we'll never have the displeasure of seeing

I thought it was ok and the events that happened didn't really move all that fast to the point where it where it was noticable. I wouldn't say all of the jokes were funny, there were some that did have me laughing a bit.

The fact that Henry Danger, Game Shakers and Danger Force were big successes despite everyone hating them proves that as long as it's from Dan Schneider and there are no behind the scenes circumstances prematurely cancelling the show like with Sam & Cat it will be a success meaning Gibby! would have definitely become a success regardless to what the quality was or what you think of it and honestly I think they should have had both iCarly spinoffs

I watched the Gibbs pilot too and was shocked to find out it was so bad, worse than even kid danger, it was just atrocious, like Dan made it well on an ego trip thinking he could do anything and get a green light, and when it wasn’t dumb and bad it was downright creepy and offensive. I at least expected it to maintain some level of quality from icarly (which had its flaws but was still overall watchable and enjoyable background noise if you ignored Dan Schneider’s one off poorly aged jokes sometimes found in icarly) Or you know…I expected it to at least HAVE A PLOT….but no. Even Gibby in icarly could carry an episode (like the whole icarly goes to the pawn shop which was basically a Gibby ep where he felt like a man child akin to Spencer who could hold up as a main focus being competently dumb) So I truly don’t know what happened here However, i’m so glad you made this video because after watching the gibby pilot I NEEDED someone to construct the mess of a pilot I couldn’t even believe I’d just witnessed

If Henry danger and Game Shakers taught us anything it's that any sitcom from Dan Schneider will become a success as long as there's no behind the scenes malarkey meaning Gibby! would have been a multi season having sitcom with a potential spin off of its own likely to someone like Ozzy so regardless to everybody's hate on both Gibby! and Sam & Cat they would have easily become the same as Henry danger super long running with spinoffs despite universal hate

Gibby deserves better. ❤️‍🩹 I do feel like in the later seasons, iCarly did seem to decline a little bit so they added himas a main character to lift the show back up. But honestly, they should have wrote better scripts for him and put him in the credits since the beginning. Noah Munk deserved better
