It seems in the early days of Shotokan they did board and tile breaking. That practice seems to have largely disappeared.

Taekwondo still does a lot of board and brick breaking, old school Taekwondo has 2 main martial arts influences, judo and karate, every one of the early founders of the kwans (Korean martial arts) that were combined to make taekwondo were taught by funakoshi himself

Comenzaron el documental cagandola , quien les dijo que el karate japonés antiguo shotokan era un deporte ,,, no señor ,, es un arte marcial ,,, y más si hablamos del tradicional ,,

En realidad el shotokan se le quitó muchas de las técnicas supuestamente mortales para poder darlo en las clases de Educación Física en las escuelas.

Gran documental, si esto es del 52 y el karate hasta donde se llegó a España con la llegada de Atsuo Hiruma a finales de los 60, ya se tenía alguna idea en España de lo que era el Karate. La única pega es que dicen deporte, en lugar de arte marcial.

También dice que se usó en batallas y es falso, que se creó en la ciudad de okinawa, también es mentira; que está prohibido toda clase de armas, también mentira

I also have a lack of money, my friend 😞 but you can certainly find time and train yourself. 💪👊 You just have to want it. Believe me 😉

@@erkankemir Yes that's what I do, usually with a video follow along, Karate Training, I like them, also use weapons, for me Katana, Kali Sticks, Viking Axe and spear. Sometimes I do Thai Boxing CD training with a recording from Bas Rutten, depends on what I feel like working on that day.

Keep practicing what you learned daily. I had students who also dropped out but kept practicing and 10 years later they came back and to be honest, they were better than my new black belts.

@dodge sportsman Yes, I train a lot, right now am recovering from Pneumonia so kind of out of action, bummer, but I'm starting to get better now.

No es un deporte. Es Budo (arte marcial en occidente ) . Ahora sí tiene una faceta deportiva es otra cosa.

Errores flagrantes: 1) no se creó en la "ciudad" sino en las islas de Okinawa; 2) los practicantes "no tienen prohibido" expresamente el uso de armas sino que complementan el entrenamiento con el Kobudo precisamente; 3) su origen histórico es más bien plebeyo y no tanto vinculado al ejercicio militar más aristocrático de los samurais. El NO-DO no era precisamente un noticiario caracterizado por su rigor in formativo.

Sorry, but the supposed Gichin Funakoshi footage looks fake. EDIT: yes it is him. I thought the footage was iffy due to the first frames where they showed a man with grey hair walking into the dojo under spotlight without showing his face, but then realized that the next frames are filmed in the same dojo and the person shown is definitely Funakoshi. Sorry!
