Hi Helen, thanks for another great episode. So full of knitty ideas and inspiration. As a retired teacher I always thought of the summer holidays as a time that things “quieted down” a little. It sounds to me like you have a full - or even more than full - calendar! Take care and enjoy all the plans and the extra family time you can get during your summer holidays. Until the next time. Salam wa sa’aadah

Wow so many beautiful samples and your Stephen West shawl looks amazing 😻. I knitted the flax sweater for a baby and it was my first knitted sweater and it was so great, I love it 😍. You purchased some lovely acquisitions. The progress keepers are fab xx

Those bug bites look nasty, Helen!! Hope it's not too bad. Yay for summer holidays! I was counting down the hours this morning at school. 🎉 Love your jumper and the vertices unite look fab!! I wanted to start a shawl for the shawl-a-thon, but my yarny mojo has gone a bit (been doing more cross stitch lately). Hopefully it's coming back over next weeks!! The Opal yarn is called "Riding the crest of the waves" (that is a better translation than the literal "Wave crest riding" I think. 😉). The Glittering Snowscape Shawl looks amazing, and I love the colours!! ❤ Looove your teals and turquoises!! And can't wait for your new collection!! 😍 Hope you can enjoy the summer holidays.

That’s how I react to mosquito bites. They tend to be worse around water.

I am having a horrible season for bug bites. I've not got too many at any one time, fortunately, because they are just driving me around a bend, and I just keep getting them. I have a good bug spray that I use, but it triggers my asthma so I have to apply it outside, not near an open window, and basically hold my breath until it's done so I only think to put it on if I'm expecting bug to try and nibble me. I had to go to the pharmacy today because even when I'm making a point of not itching, I keep unthinkingly itching, even through plasters. So now I have more plasters, and one cream for before I've scratch the bug bite and one cream for after. The woman at the counter said they've had a -lot- of people needing bug bit creams. I think it's because we've had such a wet spring, behind our neighbour's house in the woods there's a seasonal pond but because it dries up in hot spells there's no fish in it, and it must just be a midge larva nursery par excellence. Your samples are all incredibly lovely and it's so exciting that you're going to comic con. I've never been, not even when it was local to where I used to live and I probably knew half the people on the hosting committee.

It's so frustrating isn't it! I did find some midge spray thr other day, so I just need to make sure I use that before going on walks!!! Hopefully that will help 🤞

I also react badly to bug bites, thankfully not many biting insects in the NE, I get a 2-3 bites a year. According to some wool shop websites that is Riding Waves? Not sure about a direct translation though 😅 isn't the quote "Second to the right, and straight on till morning"? Or did you change it for copyright?
@GiddyKnits
@GiddyKnits Ай бұрын
I keep getting the quote wrong 😆 I'm not even sure if I've got it correct on the website or not 🙈 but if it's wrong we'll just say it's to avoided copyright 😆 (although the book is now public domain anyway as it was published in 1911, so it's not a great excuse) 😆
@TheCannyMagpie
@TheCannyMagpie Ай бұрын
@@GiddyKnits apparently it's "Second to the right, straight on til morning" in the book and Disney added the "star" bit, so maybe that bit is copyrighted 😅
