If you slide the sash yarn (for tying it up) between the middle tines of the fork at the start, and hold it next to the handle of the fork to keep it out of the way, you don't need to thread it through at the end. This is particularly useful if you are using very fuzzy yarn.

i made these and brought them to school some what in the beginning of the year. so many people kept asking for one. i gave some for free.then i started selling them for a dollar for 4. so many people wanted these pom poms! even the boys wanted them! i got so much money from these pom poms! You should make sure that they're tied very tightly for washing. You could also put them in a mesh bag before washing, probably best by hand.

Here's a great KNOT TYING TIP I learned a life time ago in boy scouts. It's called a "taunt line". When you start to tie the knot and cross the two ends, do it twice. When you pull the two ends tight before tying the knot, you'll find that friction holds the crossed ends from slipping loose before you finish with the last step of tying the knot. I do it for pesky shoe laces to help them from untying.

I LOVE THIS TECHNIQUE!! The fork makes the perfect sized mini poms every time. They were the perfect size for the eyeballs on a pair of knitted froggy booties I made for my great grandson. Thanks so much for sharing this technique!!
