I always add music and sound effects in my head while I'm reading. I didn't realize other people didn't do that lol. Every time the title page came up I would hear some scary bass toned music and it'd give me shivers. The book has a lot of spine tingling moments

As a kid, I spent some time at my family's farm and our barn always freaked me out at night. I guess my fear was justified after all.

Speaking of Lemire and Sorrentino working together I'd recommend their Green Arrow run. It's in the N52 so it is a very different direction than what we are used to when talking about Green Arrow but it is great stuff, very creative and it's another of those instances where Sorrentino's art is absolutely stunning

Great video! I LOVED Gideon Falls. Sorrentino did A few volumes of I Vampire for DC during the New 52 era.

Gideon Falls was a clear nod to the Dark Tower novels by Stephen King. The alternative reality hoping around, the central point of the universe being a black barn collapsing in on itself (aka The Dark Tower), and the fact that it needed the chosen group of people to reach it (aka the ‘’kat-tet’’). Even one of the characters in the TPB Vol. 5 (i believe) says the famous line from the 1st novel of the DT series: ‘’There are other worlds than this’’. So considering all this, it might have killed it a bit for me. It started out strong, but it ended paying homage to another story more than anything. The art was phenomenal throughout tho. If you are not into novels, Marvel adapted stories from the Dark Tower series drawn by Jae Lee. Also gorgeous to look at.

25:13 thankfully they’re is going to be a deluxe edition for Gideon Falls from ch. 1-16 this September and I can’t wait to get it

In regards to the comic - never read this but the art looks spectacular. Weirdly reminds me of Criminal crossed over with Something Is Killing The Children

I was reading this in singles and really enjoyed it until the late teens/early 20s, when it went deep into the dimension hopping and that monthly gap kind of killed the story for me. Waiting for the deluxe hardcover to eventually come out and re-read, which I definitely think will be a much better way of reading and enjoying. You should check out Kickstarter, Eric Powell just started crowdfunding a Ed Gein hardcover graphic novel which looks really good.

I loved Lemire's three-volume Moon Knight run. Gideon Falls was indeed very different from what I expected (sci-fi, rather than the horror I hoped for), but it was well-made.

I've only read the first trade, and just as Neil said - it didn't really blow me away off the bat. I plan on eventually rounding out the entire series. Thanks for the in-depth review guys. I'd love if you guys would get into Jason Aaron's "Scalped." Or some of Ed Brubaker's I.P. series; "Fatale, Fade Out, Criminal, Pulp, Reckless, Kill or be Killed" ..... Or even Eric Powell's "The Goon."

Read horror to dark ambient stuff like the. Cryo Chamber KZfaq channel and comic horror is very effective. You guys like NIN I know so it should be an easy fit if you love the weird instrumental tracks he does
