You can't argue with the simplicity of the product or the price! If it nurtures your new chain and sprockets on a long ride then you're onto a winner - will look forward to an update. A well presented video. Cheers.

Thanks Quentin, my first impressions are very good…used over two trips and and seems to keep chain and sprockets well oiled without residual oil going everywhere! I did have to slightly adjust position over chain and on reflection the original positioning would be best done while someone sitting on the bike. Obviously I’ll run it for several more trips and then do an update video 👍🏻

Great video! For those who had a leaking problem. Had same problem with first oiler... It leaked ALL THE TIME! Now I've learned that you must turn it back a quarter turn to release the pressure! Not sure how well that works... Failing that or rather BEFORE LEARNING THAT I ran the oil tube UP THE OPOSITE HANDLE BAR CABLES BRINGING IT TO THE SAME HIGHT AS TUBING COMING FROM BOTTOM OF OILER. So now I just turn 1/4 after gazing up and I'm done! NO LEAKING! By doing this the oil doesn't have a ''straight'' path down. The oil goes down only to go back up again before dropping. Hope that helps!

For those wondering how it doesn’t leak out on its own, remember when as a kid how you put a straw in your glass of milk, put your thumb over the end and pull it out? It’s the same principle. When you push the plunger down, the oil is forced out. Once the pressure neutralizes, the plunger is like the thumb…the oil shouldn’t flow. If it does it’s because air is getting into the reservoir.☺️ If thinner oil is used it might not have enough viscosity and if an air bubble works its way up, it will leak. I have this for my CRF300L but sold that bike and got a Grom instead. I am thinking about putting it on my new bike.

@thecampingbiker791
@thecampingbiker791 3 ай бұрын
Pleased it was helpful…it’s held up very well, only just changed bike so not yet re installed on new one.. used sparingly it could last a couple of weeks, depends on weather conditions really. Yes, you do get a bit of grunge on sprocket and surrounding areas but not particularly on chain which just stays looking oiled, To be fair I don’t deep clean the bike very often, and certainly not after every ride, so just lived with it, however proper clean down more often would keep it from looking grotty! Device is best used when driving on slower roads, built up speed limit areas are good, as there’s less oil spray. Hope that’s useful 👍🏻

Yes, very straightforward to fit…bit difficult to say how long as depends on weather conditions and dry road v dusty trail etc! To give you an idea for me personally, I wouldn’t necessarily use every day unless winter grime salt and generally bad weather or on dusty trail rides, probably using every 3-4 days which with about 10 quarter turns would give me about a month of use!! I’m having to guess about numbers of turns but I’ll make a note of actual use and number of turns till empty as I’ve coincidentally just filled it up…wasn’t empty but always top up when I clean the chain.

Great video. Thank you for sharing this . I've looked at Scott Oilers and stumbled over this video. It seems like a great alternative, however this requires you remembering to do it regularly. As I understand it, if you use this method of keeping your chain lubricated and clean at all times the chain should be oiled constantly so that the grime, dirt etc is flung off, otherwise you'll end up with that sticky paste again that we all hate which isn't great for the o rings and you end up on your knees cleaning the chain. So, I'm not sure how you monitor that. The Scott oiler seems to be a set and forget device which can be set to specific riding conditions ie rain, dry warm wheather etc. The Scott oiler seems to require a lot more oil as well vs the Nemo. It would be interesting to see how you get on with this. Will you still be needing to clean your chain? Will your chain last that much longer?
@thecampingbiker791
@thecampingbiker791 2 жыл бұрын
To be fair I used it on recent trip and because it’s there in front of me riding quite easy to remember to turn on the move…I’ll still be cleaning chain in normal way as well, but hard to say if it will make a difference over time but think it should

I found it works better than a scottoiler because it works on the principle of positive displacement, just like an automatic greaser. You turn it 1/4 turn you get the same amount of oil regardless of how hot or cold it is. Older scottoilers use the viscosity of the oil to control the flow rate, so in colder weather you get much less and have to adjust it. It's cheap, it works, even if you do have to turn it manually every so often.

@@angrypanda6942 yes, 1/4 turn at a time and with general riding only every few days.. you shouldn’t need to refill for 2/3 weeks. Also, best using it when on minor road or relatively moderate speed as it will spray everywhere if doing it on a motorway for example. To refill just wind it back anti clockwise until it screws off and then ready to refill.. when refilling pour some in but not to top, let it settle as oil will find its way into bottom mechanism and then top up gradually to get full reservoir.. only takes a minute or so 👍🏻

The "spare" is a different length, it's longer if you need a little more reach as I did mounting on the inside of front/top fairing off one of the fairing mount screws, its very discreet where the steering area is. The oil line nipple also is removable using a 10 mm spanner.
