He REALLY made the show more interesting. I can't remember who the guy is that always claims he's the best player but got hurt, but he has dumb takes. Gil is inconsistent and always tries to make it about himself, but he's still decent. The girl's okay, but sort of goes with the flow and has some dumb takes. But Baron was ON FIRE! It was listening to a coach break down the offenses and defenses instead of guys bullshitting about basketball they don't completely understand.

They boxed themselves in. If you get a PG then you have to sit one of your 3 superstars. They can't do it. So they need the PF or Center to step up and be effective (or run the offense in a way that takes advantage of their skills). They don't have the money or tradeable assets to get a great PG (unless they send Beale away for him) and it still doesn't help their weak bench or barely existent low post game.

BJ is correct in saying Beal+Book combo will never be as lethal as Beard+Kyrie… KD doesn’t seem to get that he left OKC for GSW because of the guard play (his words). Ever since he left GS he has been teaming up with iso score first guards and mediocre coaches. GS has the most selfless iso scorer in basketball and a constant movement offense with a legendary coach.

As a person who liked Gil's product better before the arena, I hope they can get BD to stick around because he's pretty BB savvy, you hear me. The other guys are fun in their own way, but Gil had been the only one giving that insider, outside perspective of a player. Brandon and big-hat/crown guy, do know stuff, but seem to only have a perspective from themselves. I remember an episode where, what's his name, Kanyon? don't remember, bigger guy, invested in Philly, was super sad when the Harden experiment was over, was complaining about Embiid getting the ball at around the free throw line, and saying KG wouldn't have put up with that, would've taken the ball down the defenders throat and made him like it. Big-hat defended Embiid, was like, it's working, so what's the deal? Anyhow, the complaint was a narrative that Gil agreed with because it fit his narrative that Embiid is lazy and is not what he could be. It never came up that the reason Embiid was doing what he was doing was because other teams haven't figured out how to defend it, whereas the whole KG method is well understood, and teams are actually comfortable defending it because they can just double Embiid when it's like that, which is what they would love to be able to do; whereas, if Embiid gets the ball high and in the middle, regardless of the side that it comes from, he will see the double team coming, and will have better vision of the court to see where the open man is. This was something I found out watching PG's show where they talked about how do you guard Embiid, and he was like, you can't, and when someone brought up how they guard in college and why you don't see that anymore, PG said they still do that, would do that, but teams are smart and have figured out how throw defense off from what they generally have done in the past. My point is that I think BD's BBIQ would really help the show a lot because they kinda are stuck with too much superficial stuff, and not enough of the in depth stuff.

7:04 mannnnm glad Baron said this! Because this is EXACTLY Tatum! Everything he does on the court looks like a pre-meditated drill. Luckily most ppl who guard him don’t actually play defense. But you can tell that when he does get a good defender and they inhibit his pre-practiced series of moves, he has almost no ability to adapt/play-off-of-the-defender, and he “glitches” (jumps to shoot and doesn’t actually release the ball, some weird travel, falls down, etc). In college and overseas we only did shooting drills for warmup, the rest was full-court 1v1 with progression to 5v5

Theyre not saving it. Because all 3 of them are lackluster in being the PnR passer. Theyre scoring guards and a scoring forward. If you breakdown film, you'll see a lot of missed opportunities, pocket passes, lobs etc. You need to have them come off cuts, screens, pin downs, Dho's. But thats hard when you dont have a pg that can put pressure on defenses through a pnr. Lets say ad and bron run a pnr, and ad runs hard to the rim. You can bet bron is feeding him, now the help defense HAS to come. When that help steps towards the middle, bron darts it to the corner. Luka does this the best. He uses his eyes to direct the help defense.

Not easier to get 8+ assist now. The last 20 years there are between 6 to 8 players a year averaging around 8 assist. Before that it jumps to 8 players or more and you have more guys with double digit assist because they had true point guards. Now it's just that scoring stars have the ball so much, the guy that drops 25+ probably also has 7 to 8 assist too.

This one is easy. Very confused on why they missed on this one: Durant is a player in which once he get's traded you lose key pieces. It's hard to trade Durant Apples to Apples so it's get Durant, but lose 3-4 players that did a lot of the little things and understood each other. Those key pieces already establish chemistry. What usually happens is if A Durant team doesn't win immediately ( before the new chemistry builds ) They trade away another chemistry piece which in this case was Chris Paul. The entire team ran through Chris, so when you move him... you lose chemistry and have to build it all over again. Not to mention the piece they moved him for has been injured all year long, Bradley Beal. The Top 3 players in a Durant lead team some how never play with each other long enough to build chemistry. It's either injuries, controversy or suspension. It's literally chemistry and nothing else. Minnesota Timberwolves look good this year because they kept the core players together. If they had moved Kat... like most people wanted to... baby Jordan aka Edwards would still have great stats, but he wouldn't have the wins to argue 1st and 2nd team All-NBA. Look at teams that have dominating the last few years and you will see that the core pieces are staying together longer. Denver, Younger Warriors and now OKC. chemistry wins championships and you need at-least a full season together to get there, but unfortunately nobody wants to wait anymore... so they ship out good players because of pressure from fans and upper-management to win NOW!

Lol i got cut my sophomore year for playing too much streetball 😭 I wasn’t gonna make past the bench but lol man how people suppose just know plays, its not like football, where you have a huddle and time to think.

This is why Steph and Klay are the best because as good as they are the movement without the ball creates an actual offense. That one on one shit will never work

It’s common knowledge now but the issue with the suns is that their top heavy… they have a starting 5 that can compete with the best when healthy but now even health is becoming a rarity. My take: they need a true PG. Book is not a PG… not everyone can be Harden. Put him back at the two and get a true table setter. All their baskets are way more difficult than it should be.

The Beal trade hamstrung them. Nowhere for a PG to play. If they all stay healthy and still can't win, I'd try to find someone who has a TRUE PG and trade Beal for him. Maybe you can get one cheap so you can also get someone for depth.

It's crazy to me how easily Gil and BD break down what's wrong with these teams that aren't hooping like they should. Do the coaches not have these levels of insight? It doesn't make sense how bad they are at their jobs

They got ulterior motives, they went over this in the past, you got coaches that won’t play certain guys as much just cause their on a contract year
