The problem came in when the fouls called in this era, were not called in the 90's nor the Dream and Shaq era. Now fouls are called constantly. Even though (Jordan) sorta had something to do with fouls called driving through the lane,because he constantly complained to the refs about being fouled. Kobe got many calls because his style like Jordan was driving to the basket. Now these stupid technical fouls really damaged the league, can't celebrate nor show any type of aggression after making a basket nor say anything to the refs is ridiculous. I agee with Gilbert the league has taken away aggression and defense, and that is as a majority is european style basketball. So he's onto something that's not being spoken and he spoke about it.
