Күн бұрын

On the fifth episode of "From The Point" podcast by Trae Young, Gilbert Arenas, the show's first guest, pulls up and sits down with Trae and his co-host and friend, Winston.
Gil, a former All-NBA player and current podcast host, reflects on his unlikely path in high school, shares a story about how Kobe Bryant changed his approach to the game, tells some wild tales about his interactions with the media and teammates, reveals which current players remind him of himself, and much more. Don't miss the former Golden State Warrior, Washington Wizard, Orlando Magic, and Memphis Grizzlies guard shoot it straight.
This episode was filmed at adidas 3SSB All-American Camp in Ladera Ranch, CA, on the day that Trae Young's third signature sneaker, the Trae Young 3, was released for retail.

Everybody got a podcast. Times have changed, you can get an exclusive look into almost anybody now. Good interview, respect to the hard work and discipline it takes to make it to the NBA.

You right but I get why, it's s great way to showcase your personality in a chill environment with people like and/or respect. Also work on public speaking at the same time. Especially good for somebody like Trae who has the "vilain" role and clearly wants to mature beyond that. Makes sense.

I appreciate how real Gilbert is. I would love to see how Trae continues to grow into his own leader as time goes on. Trae definitely deserves more respect around the league. What he did during the First run is crazy. Destroyed NY, Made Philly destroy the process, and dropped 48 and 10 against the Champs that year. If anyone else did that they would be goated. Trae is a top 3 PG in the NBA rn 💯

Trae and Gil interview is really like a foreshadowing moment of NBA history, to put into context Gil was A shoot first PG with unlimited range and scoring ability, sound familiar. Trae is following the path, Gil also invented the half court turn around and walk off 3 way before Steph. That’s the NBA now your either a floor general like Chris Paul or Drose mold or the Agent Zero arc for PG’s

I was like Trae when I was a kid, playing against players that were older than me on the court. 11 years old (1993) playing against adults 18 years and up. 2X, 3X bigger than getting pushed around on the court and not as fast as some of them. It pushed me and made me better and tougher on the court as years past. Made me faster and a better shooter as I got older and became an adult in 2000.

Late to the comments, but Gil’s point about being a ball hog and who was really being greedy is so important. On one hand, not collaborating and working with people can be an unhealthy relationship with your ego, but on the flip side it’s critical for your success to be confident in yourself and the work you have put in. He’s right in pushing back against people trying to paint the narrative that it is the former, that he is a ball hog, etc. Having a finger on the pulse of a community, and knowing the work and dedication of people around you is a part of that, and there’s nothing inherently bad about knowing you are working the hardest and trusting yourself the most in a critical moment. It’s just about having clarity to make the right decision in a split second.
