Gilbert Gottfried has had a profound role in my career as an actor and impressionist. I've been mimicking his voice for friends, family and clients for years. Voicemails, parodies, improvisational nonsense...
When word spread about his passing, I received messages from friends and loved ones who immediately thought of me after they heard the news. His is such an iconic voice, and one that I've held dear to my heart as I entertained crowds with his unique sound and mannerisms.
The scene of Tidus and Yuna laughing together is one that gets made fun of a lot. Tragically, this is because most people misunderstand its purpose. In this scene, Tidus is dealing with a lot of emotional turmoil after finding out some rather unpleasant truths about his life. Through his conversation with Yuna, the two of them decide to reject their sadness with smiles and laughter so that others may be able to do the same.
With consideration to the words of Mr. Gottfried's family, I choose to honor their wish and his memory with this video. I hope to continue to keep his memory alive through my impressions for years to come.
