So, Jimbob, do I understand that the 18”x24” area directly above the compactor is actually a dance floor? :-) How else would anyone be able to produce the pounds per square inch pressure necessary to crack granite countertop?

Any overhang over 6 inches should have some support.

"How to install electrical for trash compactor"....nothing about installing the trash compactor (i.e. housing, fix points, etc.).

I don’t think trash compactors are “useless crap.” We bought a used trash compactor to keep our dog out of the trash can. A previous dog of ours suffocated himself by getting a cereal bag stuck on his head while digging in a regular trash can.
