Believe me,, you wouldn't want to work in that kind of rock everyday. Now a good shot up Rock, blasted good, yea that a different story ! That stuff like that is a nightmare !

That dozer is sure getting a workout, but the operator knows his stuff. I hated working in hard rock with a dozer, it's just so hard on everything .... tracks, rippers and blade.

Given the area and surroundings blasting is probably out of the question, in my opinion he’s not abusing the machine the left corner bit is getting a work out. The weight of the machine is a tool in itself but to use it the force of the tracks and leverage of the blade using hydraulics is what it’s designed to do...

Why call it abuse? The Komatsu D375A-8 is using a rock blade and working within the limits of what it was designed for...grinding down rocks, digging out large rocks and pushing them. No need to "baby" a machine as big, powerful and rugged as that.

That’s a very expensive machine using it absolutely wrong I seen they have a 750 Volvo with the ripper tooth on it that is the right machine for the job

@Cheryl Smith I definitely agree with your idea . The only thing I would change is excavator size. For those extremely dense rock formations I’d bring in a 950 Volvo or equivalent. The problem with my idea is getting a 100 ton class excavator up the mountain.

Is this abusing the bulldozer? It just seems like this isn't the application meant for a dozer. Dynamite would be a much better application it seems.

Gareth, it doesn't appear to be doing a good job at what you say it's meant to do. Blast the rock with TNT then the dozer will have no problem at all pushing it.

It's allright , there's a lot of people around. And blasting diverts underground waterways that supply the drinking water network. Lot of sectors in the Alps are Karstic Type .When we (they) began building ski resorts in the 50's they did lot of mistakes that we pay now as the water rsource becomes a Stake.

So apart from trying to cause maximum blade damage, what the hell was he trying to do with those rocks. Rip man rip - not the blade, it would have been better to make them smaller, then, shove them over the edge or whatever, as at that size nothing would have stopped them once they started rolling. Even a house wouldn't have stood a chance. I can see some very expensive repairs their the way he's doing it.
