Kyrie statement was made against one community, not the world. So I agree with Gil we won’t know the outcome until he plays. Now what Kenyon didn’t verbalize is the fact that their is a war that includes the community that Kyrie disrespected. So that’s where Gilbert is wrong Silver dgaf about money if it means disrespecting his people.

These NBA guys really don't understand what it's like to represent your country. The dream team was the most popular USA team of all time, and Charles Barkley still got smoke just for elbowing a guy who elbowed him. They dragged his ass in the media because he was representing USA across his chest while doing it. If something like that was enough to make international headlines and make the United States look bad that imagine what Kyrie would do.

All OG is tryna explain to Gil is that; when selecting the team to represent USA the may strongly consider omitting Kyrie to avoid having to do damage control since Kyrie's previous action can be considered a geopolitical incident. Kyrie stands on his views and could be challanged to defend them in the international media, which we all know he's not scared to do. The USA is not an edgy corporate brand that things all press can sell more products for them, they are a country with pride and specific allegiances and they would rather have a clean image than risk adding another 'cool' player.

This is the Gil who went out and made his finger guns and got himself suspended for 50+ games… as much as you may think it’s just about YOU… sometimes it’s bigger than that. How he can't understand that the "powers that be" behind Team USA and Olympic baaketball may decide to leave Kyrie at home to avoid scrutiny is wild. No one is saying that fans won't watch or he isn't deserving but he comes with baggage. It's the same reason Kyrie had such a hard time getting the contract he wanted. As Kenyon said, this is the world stage with a ton of politics at play. Kyrie may set a portion of people off and hes also a wild card once you get over there.
