Gimp: How to color an Art Nouveau coloring page, using a color palette and only the mouse. No plug-ins or tablet required. Have fun!
Gimp 2.8.22 standard - Windows 10
👉👉👉 NOTE FOR GIMP 2.10 USERS: 👈👈👈
1- Use threshold instead of indexed to make solid black lines.
2- Gradient tool replaces the blend tool.

Thank you for the tutorial. I was thinking that you were going with Turquoise for the background. Using the Grass brush this way is a very good trick.

Hallo Jan. A great tutorial. You always manage to create an Aha effect with me. At first I thought I know how it works to fill a picture with color, but ... well, your way is less complicated than mine. I notice that you have not dealt with the jagged lines. In that case, I have a suggestion. When you finish coloring, flatten the image (or create a new layer from visible), and then G'MIC -> Repair -> Mean curvature. You can play around with the setting (it is called repetition or something). I usually use between 4 to 10. This filter is very powerful in smoothing out jagged lines.

Hi Hani Santosa! Thanks for your input. I purposely make the tutorials with the standard Gimp, so without G'MIC (or any other plugins). This is to make the program (and the tuts) as accessible and workable as possible, especially for beginning Gimpers. As far as I know, Gimp has no standard options to smooth jagged lines, but I am open for suggestions. Thanks again Hani Santosa!
