Music: Eduardo Di Capua, Lyrics: Vincenzo Russo.
Original Italian melody arranged and adapted by Ray Charles.
Perry's Italian heritage comes to the four in this simple and touching love song. His parents came from the district of Abruzzi in Italy, and as a child, he absorbed the customs and the language of the Italian neighborhood he was born into in Canonsburg, Pennsylvania. Nick Perito, pianist, accordionist, and musical director for Perry, adapted the old Italian melody for today's style. Ray Charles, conductor of the Ray Charles Singers, has been with Perry as choral director since 1954. He had the assignment of tailoring the Italian chorus to Perry's style for (these songs) which were cut in the RCA studios in Rome.

Gina Lollobrigida went a music school in Italie and also in school for arts. One day she was with Maria Callas and Onassis on one of Onassis' yachts, and she sang a song, and Maria Callas was impressed with her voice. She told Gina to go sing only classical music because her voice was wonderful

I learned something this morning. I didn't know Perry played guitar and that Gina had a good singing voice. I was born in the early 50s and remember seeing Perry Como on TV and hearing him on the radio during that decade. I'm glad I was exposed to other kinds of music other than Rock and Pop growing up.

👍🏼We really were blessed. (I was born mid 1950’s.)From the Great Composers in past centuries, on up to I would say, the 1980’s. I learned this about Perry and Gina, also. If you haven’t seen, “Come September,” with Gina and Rock, it’s a good one. But you probably, have.

Nothing like listening to Perry Como, His voice, just beautiful, Plus he's my grandfather's 1st cousin. So this is what I grew up on. Every Aunt and Uncle's would always play his album. Then they are all singing too. Those were my favorite years...

Beautiful, intelligent and wonderful singing voice....but that's enough of Perry 😁😁. Seriously though, Gina was truly lovely and amazingly talented it seems, with a great singing voice....and Perry; tuneful as ever and playing Guitar like a pro. Wonderful classy times.

RIP Gina 🙏🙏🙏 A stunningly naturally beautiful woman who was part of the Golden Age of the Cinema She made many films one of which is Woman of Straw released in early 1964 cast along side Sean Connery An oddball film really but why I loved it so much were the clothes she wore.
