Dear Cathy. I'm over here in the UK and I've just discovered your videos. I never usually comment, but having spent an hour or so watching your videos, I felt compelled to leave some feedback. Wow, brilliant! Informative, really useful, beautifully commentated with no unnecessary waffle and executed slow enough to take it in but no so slow you get bored. I can't thank you enough (especially the video about the #2 foot which I've been struggling with for ages). I've learned so much. Thanks again. Mandy xx

Hi Cathy, I have been watching your tutorials and you do such a wonderful job at instruction and explaining the steps and why. You also give great instruction on needles and thread, which I struggle with. I haven't found one yet but if you would do a tutorial on the different weights of thread and about needle choice I believe I would understand it better. I love watching your sewing with lace as well as I love lace and add it to my quilts because it is so beautiful. Again, thank you for the great tutorials.

Very informative. I've use No. 5 for years, but I didn't know you could do the "chain" off the fabric fold like that. You've taught me something useful. Thank you. Note that it would be nice if you could use greater contrasting fabric and thread next time, especially since you don't have a camera person to show a closeup.

I am so glad that you found the video useful. I agree that the thread didn’t show as well as I would have liked. On the monitor it showed as a dark green but when viewing on my phone I could not see it as well either. I’m learning along the way and will definitely try to do better. I sure am liking these videos. Thank you very much. For whatever reason I usually have to pull my table off to put a new bobbin in. I can never seem to find the sweet spot where it wants to click in. Drives me crazy! I’ve tried everything. I have the large bobbin and holder as your machine does.

I really liked the edge with the chain off at the side.. I wasn't clear on the stitch width/ stitch length numbers though.. could you clear that up for me.. I went over it several times & just couldn't get it.. sorry!

Most all machines now have a built in blind hem stitch that is preset at a stitch width and length. Always know that these settings can be altered to suit the technique or fabric you are applying the stitch to. The thing to remember when adjusting the width of the stitch is to make sure that when the needle takes a stitch on the left where your fabrics folds are, that it only pierced the fabric enough

To connect the layers. If the needle goes too far into the fabric the thread will show too much on the right side. The needle when stitching on the right will not be stitching in the fabric at all. So adjust the stitch width fir what you need to barely pierce the folds of fabric. The stitch length was made shorter in length for the light weight fabric in order to bring the distance between the zig zag parts of the stitch closer together. Always remember to adjust the stitch to what you need to get the job done.
