Stravinsky maintained, in his creative work, a love-hate relationship with string instruments as being too evocative and representative of the human voice. This tendency changed after the collaboration with Samuel Dushkin from 1930 onwards, which resulted in numerous transcriptions for violin and piano of the hits written for Diaghilev years earlier. This concert is completed by Poulenc's Sonata for the same ensemble.
