First of all, I love that you actually pause when you see something in particular you want to comment on or double-check. It was honestly kind of refreshing. And I like how much you paid attention to the visuals. It was also funny for us who know the show to see you catching on to how much of a troll the Gintama series is. Second of all, I love that the specials were included on your list lol Gintama is a great show, my personal favorite of all time. But even if the show moves around a bit on my top 3 list, Gintoki has been my favorite MC for so many years now. The is a comedy with a slow start. It's not a bad start and it has a lot of heart, but it is slow.

I really love that you're genuinely trying to figure out the plot and actually paying attention to the visuals! That's what I look for in most Opening reactions, and it is very rare to find. PLEASE react to the Endings as well, they are equally as good and give more insight into the characters and plot. I know it's hard to commit to watching such a long show, but it is really worth it, even if you can't react to it. Just go with an open mind expecting a comedy show, because if you go in only looking forward to the serious moments, you'll miss out on what actually makes the show special.

I'm really impressed how much of Gin's (protagonist) backstory you managed to piece together just from the visual language, especially that most of the fight scenes were flashbacks to his violent past. You also got the gist of his relationship with his sensei. Favourite reaction to the openings by far❤

The name of the show also changed when is the blond one. With the Silver(Gin is silver in japonese) is called GINtama, when is the blond(Kin in japonese is Gold) is called KINtama. 😆

I will explain why Gintama is able to air parodies of Dragon Ball, Gundam, etc. There are several weekly manga magazines for boys in Japan, and Gintama was serialized in "Weekly Shonen Jump". Shonen Jump has long been the best-selling manga magazine for boys in Japan. Dragon Ball, Naruto, One Piece, Hunter Hunter, Demon Slayer, My Hero Academia, etc. were all serialized in Shonen Jump. Therefore, since there are no copyright issues, Gintama is able to air parodies of Dragon Ball, etc. On the other hand, when it comes to Gundam, the manga has nothing to do with it. The same company that produces the Gintama anime also produces the Gundam anime. There are copyright issues because the TV stations broadcasting the content are different, but it is possible to be flexible.

Its based on Japanese folklore called "Kintaro" meaning Golden Boy. This arc is called the "Kintama" arc, "Kin" meaning Gold "tama" meaning ball. Which is also slang for testicles.

Love how barely anyone can pick up on any idea of the plot due to how random and all over the place the OP's are. To clarify some non-spoliery basic plot details: 1. The main character Gintoki (silver blue haired guy) is in his late twenties. The boy with glasses and red haired girl are teenagers who technically work for him but are essentially his adopted children. 2. The guys in the black uniforms are basically the police. 3. All the shots of Gintoki in his white, warrior outfit are from his past, when he was fighting in a war with his childhood buddies who have since gone their separate ways. 4. The 2 other war buddies who he grew up with are the long black haired guy who's constantly hanging out with that giant duck, and the mysterious purple haired one with an eyepatch covering one eye. 5. The main trio work an oddjobs company where they basically except any random job/request for money which as you can imagine gets them involved in a lot of shenanigans. And the reason that old lady is always chasing the main character is because he lives and runs his business in the upstairs above her bar, but he NEVER pays his rent.

Actually this is Edo period or at least the beginning. It was the transition period. Samurai were stripped of any authority when it hit. The rough estimate was Tokugawa period. It was after commodore matthew Perry first sailed into Tokyo bay. The anime asks what if aliens found Japan first.

Yeah appearances are very deceiving. That lady is kagura a Yato, an alien race that takes human form but cannot step directly into sunlight. She has insane strength and can easily punch a building down with a single hit. She can literally fly into a literal rage and destroy everything in front of her face if pushed. Normally she plays the naive girl that happens to be Chinese. The dog is Sadaharu the only thing able to survive Kagura’s immense strength and not exactly a well behaved pet. Gintama technically owns an Odd Jobs company so they do so many Random jobs. It’s actually kinda common in Tokyo and Osaka. Mostly their clients are old folks or people that too busy to do the job.

everytime Gintoki looks badass fighting monsters in the openings hes dreaming, because he is a protagonist with no super powers and stuff and he complains about that. Except for the ones where he is fighting aliens alongside his comrades which is something that really happened

There's also a greatest endings and Yorinuki Gintama-San openings (which are the new openings for show reruns and movies)

Most referenced animes are old gens, so in order to laugh with them, you gotta know these animes. For short, this ain't for anime newbies. Also this has lots of dirty humors. Overall, Gintama is a great show!

The first 50 episodes are slow to get going which turns some people away but it turns into my absolute favourite anime. After over a thousand books, over a thousand anime, and who knows how many other shows nothing comes close to Gintama for me. Its special and nothing is like it. There is no replacement. It can make you laugh, cry, and grip your seat. There are some spoilers in the openings but the twists are still great. I'd absolutely watch a whole series of you watching it.

Just so you know, the cute redheaded girl is the very first heroine in shounen to pick her nose and vomit, she's so unlike any heroines of any anime, actually, all of the Gintama girls aren't like any other female in shounen, they can all kick serious ass and some of them are even stronger than the guys

Man it was such a treat watching you reacting to all the openings! Its so hard to find someone who actually watches the special endings as well and I love how you really pick up on some of the interesting details. Also, very interesting to see how you cook up some of the wildest theories but also get some obscure plot points so on-spot 😂 highly recommend you to check out Gintama if you’re familiar with anime culture (you definitely seem like you are!) and just want to have a good watch for a couple episodes at the end of a day (: its a slow burn but the payoff is worth it!

The reason he's blonde in the one opening is because there was a story arc where he left town for a bit, came back, and there was this blonde version of him who's replaced him named Kintoki (Kin meaning gold. His name is Gintoki with Gin meaning silver) who's a super great guy and everyone loves him. Everyone's also forgotten about him and he has to find out what's going on.

Gintama has some really fantastic storytelling. Its nostly comedy with some action and drama throughout the show up until the end. The characters are all written really well and all the gags are amazing. Theres a lot of references to not only japanese culture and anime, but other things as well.

Gintama OPs I believe are done with so much heart, and looks goofy in the surface but if you try to look at the details and then as a whole, it's a total experience. You should definitely check out the endings for Gintama as well the quality is just as good as the openings and they are really fun, there are 30 endings though so you may need to break it up into parts especially with how thoroughly you analyzed these openings.

Gintama is one of the best comedy anime/manga of all time. It's a parody of Japanese pop culture, meaning not just the anime scene but everything. It has a great story of its own and strong animated fights. The characters are unique and individual. It is in the top 3 of my favourite Anime/Manga.

I finished the video and it's scary how much you get it right like the meaning of colors and flashback. I would really like to tell you that of the 4 who fought together in the flashbacks. One decided to forget everything and go to space. Another decided to continue fighting in his own way. Another of them decided to destroy the world. And finally, one of them He decided to turn the page... forget about the bad and try to have a good life in the present. You probably know who that someone is. You definitely have to react to the endings. YOU MUST DO IT. PLS. AND THEN, REACT TO GINTAMA COMPLETELY. Ahem, I mean if it ends up hooking you, but it would be great if you did the endings.

I am really surprised you picked up those minor details, other people either dont see it or gloss over it but they miss whats gintama is about. Its really a good anime with intriguing storyline though I would like to mention their sensei didnt betray them, they were just stuff happening that they didnt know Also gintama is an orphan and well people were afraid of him and called him a corpse eating demon. Gintama storyline is kinda all over the place, it takes some episodes to get used to the story as its not like the other typical animes out there, the main story takes time to come before that its comedy and parody mixed together. Its one of the anime in which you be laughing so much in one episode but crying in the next
