That scene in this arc where Gintoki gets down on his knees and begs to the Shinsengumi....man, i broke down. It was so fucking heartbreaking.

When gintoki got down on his knees in front of the shinsengumi for the sake of obi-one, shinpachi and otae, that shit hit hard.

This arc was actually really good in terms of developing Shinpachi now that I think about it, he always uses a wood sword after this arc in their fights

Tears are handy for washing away troubling and sad feelings. But when you grow up, you'll learn that there are things so sad, they can never be washed away by tears. That there are painful memories that should never be washed away. So people who are truly strong laugh when they want to cry. They endure all of the pain and sorrow while laughing with everybody else.

Gintoki was holding back in this fight cuz he was trying get obi hajime back to his real self himself not letting shinpachi and otae know even acting cold towards them as though he didnt care about their feeling and wants to stop him but instead gintoki takes this burden all on himself just because he dont want to his loved ones hurt. Gintoki is best main character.

It was supposed to be a funny parody arc like they always do yet I just can't hold back my tears

There are great long running shounen out there but in my opinion, Gintama is simply the best. Not me being bias because of how much Gintama means to me but it's simply an amazing series. The story, setting and characters are all unique and almost everything is better in Gintama then in other series. The characters are most likable characters in any fiction I know of, the comedy has made me laugh more than anything in my life and its serious and emotional moments are spot on. Also, while many long running shounen need forty episodes to tell a brilliant story, Gintama can do it in three.

You often forget how serious gin can be, but this video reminds you instantly.

Just love how Gintoki doesn't even know Obi-one, but still tries to save Hajime.
