@mongofan1 Saw this show in NYC Avery Fisher Hall Mongo didn’t look to good but he sounded awesome On Afro Blue he took me back to Africa with his playing RIP Watermelon Man

@jesusrivera743 ,Yeah, Mongo looked pretty frail as he walked onto the stage, but he played Afro Blue beautifully. I had the opportunity to meet Poncho Sanchez about ten years later and told him about that performance. He said I was very lucky to have caught it, that it was likely one of Mongo's last performances, as he was pretty certain Mongo retired later that year. I also got to see Patato at the Lincoln Center in NYC. He performed one piece at a remembrance of Tito Puente.
