I lived in Dubai for 16 years, before 'Downtown Dubai' was built... I watched the whole place being constructed, but the night I went for dinner at one of the restaurants there, this came on and I had never heard the song but I was transfixed. The next day, I went online and Googled the playlist to find the song, and I have loved it ever since. And how amazing that it is the Lord's Prayer in Swahili... bless Christopher Tin for bringing this incredibly beautiful song to the world; I don't speak or understand Swahili, but music transcends the need to understand language... it is the language of love.

Wow all you guys seem so blown away by this. I go there many times a year so I guess I take it for granted now. They don't always pick a great song like this though, but when they do...it is pretty epic.

Considering it's the Swahili translation of the Lord's Prayer used as the lyrics, that may not be so surprising. It is, after all, a prayer that more or less sums up what one would ask of the Divine, if one were sensible.

Honestly I couldn't agree with you more. I had this exact same thought. I don't know what it is about this song.. but it invokes strong feelings.. If there was a song which summed up humanity.. this would be it. This is as far as I'm concerned the song of of the human race. It's great to meet someone who feels the exact same way as I do.

I remember this song playing on a business dinner. My eyes watered. I felt terribly homesick. Many miles away yet this song held my soul and spirit. The executives asked me what the song meant - I explained to them it was the Swahili Lord’s Prayer. I don’t live in Dubai anymore but I’ll never forget this night! Proudly Kenyan.
