But when you have a whole closet full of Jordan's and nikes and chanels and still living in a bad area or like Adrienne said a Mercedes Benz in the projects. It happens too often in low income families and I never understood that. Yeah every two months maybe you can buy some but if you have 15 Jordan's that's enough to save up to start moving away. Why have 15 Jordan's or bags when you wont even use all of that in a week. It's better to save for a better living situation and THEN get all that nice stuff you want. Investments. It's all tunnel vision. All I know is I NEVER want to live pay check to paycheck working 2 jobs no ma'am I REFUSE. And going that path is usually how their life styles are

Loni is right! Some people may never have enough money to travel, even if they did try to save for it, so let them splurge within their reach.

Bullshit it's 2020 you can get a vacation package for the cost of a couple Paris of sneakers. Loni shouldn't be telling the black community to sleep putting money in those companies pockets instead of investing in learning and getting out the hood. Plenary of ppl get out of the hood. Its called drive, and determination. If you can save hundreds of dollars to fake stunt on the gram you can save to invest, travel, take a business class, etc . a lot of minority celebrities grew up poor. Loni grew up poor. Do u really think Loni actually did the things she is telling everyone else to do...noooo she invested in her comedy dreams and in her engineering education. Her comment and your approval are the reason minorities stay poor and generationally cursed.

I see all my fellow European beating me to the comments: Sorry, America. I've got a free masters degree, real long mommy-leave and free health care over here. I'm good. I watch your reality shows cuz many of y'all are SO EXTRA and it is so entertaining because most people I meet in these streets are usually a little bit more collected and way less dramatic. I enjoy watching that, but not living it.

Reality tv isn’t a good representation of Americans, especially American women. Some of us to hold ourselves with class, quite a bit of self respect and a lot of respect for others. Then again I’m from the south. We are raised with southern hospitality. Every country has its downfalls and bad parts. Unfortunately the US is under a microscope with the media and likes to show a lot of the bad sides of the political stuff going on while showcasing none of the good. And no I’m not a trump lover. But he has done some good for the US. Unfortunately his mouth is horrible and ruins a lot. It also ruins most respect for him. I’ll quit blabbering on. I just wanted to say we are not all bad the real housewives shows are over dramatic. Very over dramatic.

@@savannahlair9360 Sorry for the late answer! I believe you, I have visited the US a few times over the years and most of the people I meet are simply lovely. I absolutely do not think every American is like that. The point I was trying to make is that although a lot of non-American appreciate the entertainment we associate with the US, we feel like we are better taken care of by our own governments. :)

But the problem is that even though some people are poor they're spending their money on things they ain't got business in spending. Kind of like privelage people have Starbucks well for some reason non privileged people spend money on the newest Jordan's or even their tax money on the newest clothes instead of putting 25% towards clothes and the rest toward house utilities and car. See people want to be taught economics and how to do taxes but when they are trying to tell you how to invest in yourself the right way people got problems. I went to school with low income. I'm personally not and I got teased because everyone was buying all the nice expensive things but I didn't. But I saved my money for college and for my future paid attention in school to hopefully get scholarships. I'm not saying g completly cut yourself off from buying any of that stuff but dont be excessive when you are already living paycheck to paycheck.

As a european, I live in Sweden and often visit Serbia where my family comes from, to be exact, I found it HILLARIOUS when this woman was like "Everyone wants to be us (*speaking about beeing like USA)". Omg. You guys have school shootings every single week or smth? You have to pay for hospital visits and stuff like that. And currently mexicans in the US are being deported. In sweden we have free school, free healthcare, we are safe and no one is getting brutally deported by a politican/president that wasn't even really chosen by the people. (The ppl voted for Hillary...). So no thank you, I do not wish to be like you and have the highest obisety rates in the world. I do not wish to live in a country where I have to save up money to go into labor at the hospital. I do not wish for my children to be shot in school... America, grow up, we in Europe pity you, we do not wish to be you.

Loni is making it seem as though she is encouraging those “working poverty” individuals to not try and better their lives and to just SETTLE for what they think they can afford. It’s closing off your mind to believing that this new pair of shoes or car is the most luxury you can achieve. If Loni would have had that mindset growing up, would she or any celebrity before their fame, be where they are today? Why encourage people to settle? 🤔

Material will be around for many years. But not your life. You only have one life & I agree with Amanda. There’s many people who I know personally who buy high end brand clothing/makeup & cars but hardly have enough to buy a meal the next day. Having at least one pair of Jordan’s or a LV bag should be enough. The rest save $ & travel or just have some type of saving because like jeannie said “that LV bag ain’t gonna pay my rent” 👏

Which is worse, Rich People who have nine luxury cars when they can only drive one at a time! They still have life choices to make like all the rest of the population. I would rather give to Charity than to have nine luxury cars and be able to sleep well at night!😤

I will never forget, one day I was leaving my gym walking to my car and these two teenagers came up to me and started making fun of my outfit and my shoes. I was shocked but I just kept walking. Then I thought about the situation. These kids have their priorities all wrong. They disrespected me not knowing that even though I was young, I was a teacher with benefits (they could’ve been my students) I was also an officer in the army reserves and a pianist in a church. I was driving my own car and living in my own house. These kids need to develop an understanding that life is more than just name brand labels on your body. That’s the problem that Loni is missing. There is a difference between looking wealthy and actually being wealthy. And not just financial wealth but also intellectual, mental, and spiritual wealth.

I get where both Loni and Adrienne are coming from. Adrienne is taking about the idea to save up for something like travelling in order to take yourself on a meaningful trip, no matter where you go. Sometimes you need to get out of the country. I have heard of people who have travelled for even a week, and it can have a lasting positive effect on their mental health because it provided them with an escape from the problems in their life and they were just able to enjoy rather than stay in their depression. ( I hope I’m making sense but what I’m saying is that travelling will give you such freedom and just exploring the world will bring you some happiness when you are feeling very down and when you have gone through traumatic experiences). And what Loni is saying is that sometimes what gets people out of their depression and out of feeling bad about their situation is the feeling of being able to at least afford the nice clothes and shoes, to be able to splurge on yourself and not always focus on the fact that you may be poor. To spoil yourself and allow yourself to buy that one pair of sneakers that you always wanted. You don’t have to make huge purchases. But as Jeannie says, you will practice wearapy, where you dress up and it automatically causes your day to start in a positive direction. Idk I hope this made sense.

Amanda was saying if you got 300 to 500 to drop on some new Jordan's, you can instead use that money to see the world. Gain an experience instead of an accessory. I didn't take any offense to what she said but you know, a hit dog will holler...and there's alot of barking in the comment section 🙄

Shoutout to Lani for speaking for the other side! This is #thereal .. Keep it real and remember theres people out there that may work 3 jobs live in ghetto and they helping their parents/grandparents pay bills or helping raise their siblings and maybe those nice shoes are the one thing that makes them feel good.. Doesnt mean they define themselves by what they wear but it can make them feel good? I promise u not every person with stable money that travels values all the important things in life and has the most intelligence..just saying some of the most down to earth ,hard working and honest people live with the least in life.. Not everyone aspires to be a world traveling/wealthy person..some folks just want to live life with their loves one. The man upstairs and leave the money chasing to those who wanna spend life doing that!

I respectfully disagree with Loni! I am a single mother, living in a low income apartment with my daughter and I used to always spend my money on getting my nails done or hair slayed or saving up to buy the Micheal Kors bag (from the outlet and off season) just to try and make myself fit in or feel better about my living situation. It wasn’t until I decided to go NATURAL (in all sense like no more acrylic nails and cut off all my dead ends and only left my curly coils) that I started saving money. Every time I wanted to spend 200+ on a new bag I would just stash the money in my (minions piggy bank) until I had enough money to take a cruise. I literally went on a 5 day cruise (out of the country) all food and beverages included and when I got to the different islands I had enough money to check out museums and eat the islanders food and embrace the culture. I couldn’t have done that if I would have spent my money on a new bag or shoes. Now that I see experiences are better than materials I’m saving for my next vacation already (baby steps) change your mentality and change your mindset. You can do it if you set your mind to it!

Tamara is always trying to relate to the other girls saying how they grew up poor. It's actually really annoying, she has stated multiple times that both of her parents were in the military, they lived in military housing which is typically free or tax free. She grew up mostly in Hawaii, and her and her sister became famous at a very young age, not to mention her brother also became a famous paid actor at the age of five. I don't think that she or her husband will ever understand the struggle that real people go through. She has stated also that her parents moved them to California for her and her sister to follow their dreams, most people cannot afford to even do that.

First of all what is wrong with being Poor????? You did not create the Earth and nothing that is in it, so stay in your lane and worry about you and your family! You can live and be happy and make the best of not being Rich, also! Poor people can live a happy life, too! This World you "Rich" people live in won't be that great because God has already said he is going to destroy it and build a Third and Final World, that the Humble, Poor, and People who chose to obey his rules, will rule! So enjoy your selfish lives while you can, because your days will be numbered!😤

If a Rich person has a Disease or Bad Health, I would hope they would Choose Good Health over Riches! If a Poor Person has his or her Health they should wake up feeling blessed! I have had no problem being poor, although I know I could rock some Riches!😀 When I have my Annual Physical and my Doctor tells me I have no health issues, that makes me happy because I can carry on with life and take care of my loved ones!

They were too focused on the passport thing. I think that the point is that you can always work towards something bigger. Maybe some people never want to travel but maybe work towards buying a home or a car. Cause I know I see too many toddlers walking around in Nike shoes, I can afford them but I choose to go to Ross and buy some carters sneakers for my daughters.

Loni was talking about buy the shoes if that’s your priority but then judges Meghan for having a hard time to decide. Let her set her priorities. Also some people just buy materials to be on trend and they should inspire to look beyond materials. Cause then we have some people who buy materials but always wish they can travel, etc.

I can't believe I agree with Adrienne. 😐 I have a ton of friends who are poor who have never been on a plane, but buy clothes, get their nails done, do things that make them feel good. I'm always trying to inspire them to travel, to get the hell out of the state, to go back to school to up their career. It's better to sacrifice for long-term things like financial security, and traveling... All these clothes and shoes and stuff are just dumb materials..
