Because the lesson of the video wasn't just that it's not too late to say "sorry" -- or to say "I love you". But if you wait too long to say "I love you", it may be too late to spend the rest of your life with the one that you love. While it was obvious that some feelings were developing between Amanda and the guy (did they ever mention his name in the video?) while they were traveling together, she had always stopped short of acknowledging them, so the logical thing for him to do now that they were finished with the bucket list was leave. Hence the need for her to run back to him and show him how she felt right then and there if she wanted him to stay with her.
