My mom passed away in 2020 and I’m getting married next month and it hurts my heart everyday to think that my mother won’t be there with me to celebrate. That’s the main reason why I didn’t want to do a big over the top wedding. But we both comprised and are having a small ceremony and reception.

I am so happy you are taking your time with the wedding. I lived in Sarasota while my entire family and bridesmaids were up in PA. I did everything by myself. Even dress shopping, which was so sad and lonely. I worried and planned everything around not inconveniencing everyone else. Do it on your guys terms and timeline. No need to rush things.

My father passed away the day he was supposed to meet my boyfriend for the first time. Fast-forward eight years later, we are engaged and planning our wedding. It has been so difficult, knowing I won’t have my father there to walk me down the aisle, however, both of my dad‘s brothers have stepped in as a father role. One of them is marrying us, and one of them is walking me down the isle. The best part is we planned our wedding for my dad‘s birthday.. It used to be such a difficult day but now I have a happy memories to look forward to on that day. You are so strong and so helpful to you. Talk about your journey! I have followed you since day one and remember when your mom would send you Halloween care packages, she was the cutest!

Don’t feel like you have to do anything huge with your ceremony. If you feel like doing it go for it, but also don’t feel the pressure to have one either. We wished we could have eloped and kept it small. At the end of the day all that matters is your hubs and fam and how you feel. If you’re happy that’s all that truly matters ♥️

We definitely have four seasons here which I love, winter just tends to be a little longer. Being from New York, I’m sure you’re used to cold and snow. We actually get a lot less snow than the northeast and yes it can get cold but I mean it IS winter! Our weather gets such a bad rap, it’s not as bad as people think it is, but maybe I’m just used to it! I love winter and could never do warm all year! Constant sweating and air conditioning is not for me! Also, we got married at the courthouse and had a small lunch afterward for just our family….17 people total. Neither one of us has a single regret! We often thank each other for not wanting a big wedding! Lol

Oh my gosh, is that why Scott’s Instagram handle is Scott Rod?! 😂 LMAO. That’s so funny. As for a wedding, even though it’s expensive I honestly think it’s 100% worth it. Putting on your dress and taking photos with Scott and your family is so special to look back on. Eloping or finding a happy medium might be the way like you said. Your mom will be watching from above 💗

Midwest has beautiful falls but......its the winters I can't stand! They. Are. Brutal. Maybe you'll enjoy your first one but I've lived in Wisconsin my whole life and can't wait to move somewhere warmer 😀

Totally get you for the wedding. Must be really tough and expensive... But congrats ! 😉 🎉 I can't wait to see your Halloween costumes ! Don't mind other people just go for it ! If people could stop spending their time judging other people's life's the world would definitely be a better place. I'm not a good cook but a basic crumble or an apfelstrudel are always super good ! 😁😁😁
