It's a very autistic way of being respectful. We don't always have those unspoken rules baked into how we interact with others so the easiest way to adapt is to just ask every time and be very communicative of what we want to do and why.

This reminds me a lot of when I was younger. I’m autistic and when I was in grade school I struggled a lot with showing affection to family and friends, but when the rare occasion popped up that I wanted to I would obsess over their hands. Touching, moving, playing w their rings, etc. my parents were usually the ones who got the lovely yet also very silent and awkward affection. Edit: glad I’m not the only autistic person with weird ways of showing affection. Another one I do a lot: flicking. Not super hard, but it’s playful and lighthearted and I only do it with friends and family.

I have signs of autism, and I show affection by lightly biting or being very close to someone with my face and/or hands. If I rub foreheads with someone, out of affection, I will lick the tip of their nose. If I get a hold of your hands, arms, or shoulders, they're either gonna be played with, or they're going in ma mouth.

There used to be this sort of thorn tree in my grandmothers backyard. The seeds would be in pods remaniscent of really big peas, and they were really hard, so you could shake them and it would be like a little shaker. The most vivid thing I remember about it was the smell. It smelled somethin like eucalyptus, aloe, paprika, cinnamon, and the bottom of my grandmothers purse. The scent reminds me of like a sort of cologne or perfume, and I would sometimes just sit under it and zone out, forgetting my worries, and just imagining what it would be like to be an adult. 9 years later, and I now sit on the roof of my apartment, wishing for it all to go back to the way it was. I won't pretend to explain why, but this video seemed to resurface this memory. Thank you.

Reminds me of elementary school, I had this friend who I would give piggy back rides to around the school and at recess we would read warrior cats books together. Really sweet memories

I'd honestly love to have someone do this to me, probably because she's so happy about it and stuff and it makes you feel appreciated that such a thing as touching your face and stuff can bring them this joy😭
