@@JMac7395My aunt was a somewhat successful singer in Germany at the time (sang female vocals on Rock Me Amadeus”. She knew about Milli Vanilli before they were exposed and even told me to come to Germany to make money by doing this very thing. I laughed because I bought into the MV craze and really thought they were singing. 😂😂 Germany had weird tastes in music being that David Hasselhoff was a huge deal there so, I did believe I could go and it work. All that to say, it was my understanding that the vocalists had an idea of what was going on and what could happen. I’m sure they didn’t know the group would blow up like this though, but maybe not completely duped if that was a practice back then?

@anthtan because they were used as the scapegoats. Sadly, their race made it easier to do so. The world saw it as 2 young black men lying and deceiving us. Since we know so much more about it now, this movie will right the wrong done to these brothers.

They were MASSIVE, which made their demise even more tragic. Yes, everyone laughed when they fell through. Sad thing is though, everybody lipsynched back then. Rob and Fab were the faces, like so many other acts who had studio artists making the music. But they were just so wildly popular, and the music only succeeded through THEM. So rip Rob and salutes to Fab, who’s luckily overcome all the bullshit and is enjoying a great life as musician and deejay.

I work in the Music Industry here in London and have written and produced for a lot of very well known bands and artists both here and in the States. What's really quite sad with Milli Vanilli is that this still goes on today with a lot more bands and artists than people realise. It always has. They were just very unlucky because they wanted more creative control, more input and worst of all tried standing up to the producer and machinery which operated behind them. That very rarely works in any of the Entertainment Industries - especially if it's going to start disrupting people's money and you are their cash cow 😳🇬🇧

Rob and Fab could actually sing. In fact they were already recording songs before they were Milli Vanilli. The problem is, Frank thought they had thick European accent to perform an American R n B song. But yeah the two were taken advantage of.

I feel so bad for them :( especially Rob. Yes, they weren’t the real singers, but they did not deserve that hate. Literally influencers now in days get famous for doing absolutely nothing, at least they tried to redeem themselves and show people they could sing.

Brings back memories. I used to hear their songs everywhere when I was young. I remember when the news broke that they weren't the ones singing. They did make the choice to go through with it, so some blame has to be given to them, but you know there were higher-ups pulling all the strings. Tragic story
