Tbh I think it's a pretty distinct style - I get that obviously BP are huge and SNSD are/were huge, but stylistically it's not really an apt comparison. Twice can certainly be seen as a kind of successor to SNSD, but Blackpink don't really draw that heavily from them. They're much more closely aligned to groups like 2NE1 and 4Minute. I do get what you mean, though. And SNSD will always be the nation's girl group.

Oliver Hughes. You totally misunderstood my comment. I never made any comparison with Black Pink. My reference was solely on popularity. Black Pink will soon be on American television because of their new level of global popularity. Similar to Girls Generation in 2012 when they appeared on Letterman and on Regis.

Jesa and now it’s so obvious. Bang Bang Bang is a little like that and the reason I got into kpop. I saw my daughters dance crew do a cover and wasn’t sure if it was a medley of three diff songs or not so I looked the MV up on KZfaq. Three hours of kpop later and I was a kpop fan 😂

I'll name every first generation girl group, and then I'll start naming the second generation girl groups that debuted before, with and after GG and their signature songs and dances. and you will lose the bet. GIrls Generation is Iconic period. buy don't make definitive statements that can easily be proven across the entire history of kpop. WIthin the Second Generation. Girl's Day Something. Sistar Alone. Miss A Hush. Each has their iconic songs and dance known by that particular group that Girl's Generation never touched. And that is ok. They did their own thing and Girl's Generation did theirs and they were just as perfect. I really don't understand the need to try and take something away from one group to add to try to add to another.

There were only 9 active girl groups in the span of 5 years cause they were all fails except S.E.S who did really well. And in those 5 years, many, if not all (except S.E.S) 9 groups had only release 1 to 2 albums and became inactive. S.E.S did not have a specific concept except being a girl group. Then came 2003 BigMama, who did NOT have concept and were only singers. And the next one was in 2006 Brown Eye girl. I know them, ive heard all of their songs. There never did cute concept, they never did girl crush concept. Their concept were unique like RedVelvet. Then came 2007 where we finally debuted really successful GGs, WonderGirls, Kara and SNSD. These were the ones who actually trended cute concept, girl crush concept and actually formed a structure for the new GGs to follow. And Sadly for you. All of them debuted back to back with only months in between. Meaning they all already had planned, filmed, recorded, produced their music and was a matter of what month they release their album/music. It was these 3 who did it first. and by ''these 3'' SNSD is one of them. So, yeah. They actually did it first.

So the main channel has been focused on the newest stuff that comes out. I did a whole girl’s generation week on Patreon. That resulted in a bunch of music video reactions from the group, the boys album review, some live performances, dance practices, and more. If we have an opening we may squeeze it in. Just letting you know GG content does exist. It’s just more so on Patreon because a lot of them request it.
