Tip of the hat, Jane. Whenever you beat the Boerne Burner, the San Antonio Swifty, the Texas Tornado, Ms. Elizabeth Leachman in a distance race, you've done something. Now, why don't just you and her run a timed 5K tomorrow?

Super impressive Jane! Very elite performance and I look forward to seeing your wall of medals get bigger each year. Eric Fuller, former student of Dr. Hedengren, cc and track runner throughout high school.

I wonder if Jane has put any thought into the steeplechase? She's so powerful and has absolutely beautiful form, I just think she could rip it up if she spent some time working on technique over the barriers.

She’s got plenty of local inspiration with Courtney Wayment, Whitni Ortin, and Kenneth Rooks. It’s not an event for UHSAA or most of the high school invitationals. Raegan Peterson was the last Utah girl to embrace steeplechase, probably because of her experience as a distance runner and 300m hurdler.

Elizabeth wasn't quite at her best, but even if she was, Jane more than likely would have been ready. Jane's splits were getting faster with each lap. Very impressive.

Hopefully Elizabeth gets all rested up and healed and probably more importantly get the right training and off running strengthening program advice so she can stay injury free for the most part moving forward. As an FYI as noted in the interview, she closed with a 4:40 mile as part of a two mile earlier in the year, so she is certainly not running in peak form now. Regardless, Jane looks great and has been running great races lately.

Nike Indoor Nationals was a crazy fast finish for the 2 Mile. I’m looking forward to seeing her compete in the Olympic trials next week. Weeks of cross-training can be tough when your body needs to remember how to run fast.

Thanks! I shoot with a Bridge camera, Panasonic FZ1000 at 4k 30fps that has a 20mm-480mm optical zoom and up to 960mm digital zoom. I use a shotgun microphone on the camera to isolate the interview audio in loud stadiums.

I wonder if big girls can keep improving at the same rate, as smaller girls, as they move through the years.

Hedengren is basically an adult now and is still fast, she will only get better. Many girls don’t stay fast after they pass their early teens, bodies change too much.

Based on the height difference of those in the Olympics, I’d say that there are elite opportunities for tall or short athletes.

Well, I think 'big' girls, have a physical advantage when in their teens but then smaller girls grow in strength which allows them to "catch up" with the bigger, stronger girls.
