Per me nessuna è Giselle come lei...

People who knob on about the filming of this are being silly! I’m really enjoying how the Willis are portrayed, as truly ghostlike at times, and the way the camera can show them swiftly flying around Bruhn like a hoard of ghouls, lol! I love it, and the wholly different emotional experience this gives me! If people are “up in arms,” I’m not caring....I think it’s great!

Singularmente BELLISSIMA.

Bruce Marks, is the best Hilarion, I've ever seen, dancing to his death, by the love betrayed, spirits of all woman, the wilies. For the first time, I feel HIS PAIN, of been rejected, by Giselle! This is my late, great father, David Blair, vision, of his ballet that he directed and choreographed, for the cinemar, that he wanted to bring ballet to the people, not just the elite, who can afford the huge price of good ballet tickets, as it still is! How sad, ballet is for all, as it is the cruelist, but most beautiful art of all. BRAVO, to all the cast. How fortunate, we can watch this again, at home with the internet, and KZfaq!

Jolianne Baum Thank you so much, for your lovely but true, comment. It's been really am emotional journey, during the last few months, but I'm amazed how much work he achieved, and has left behind him, before, his tragic death, at only 43 years, and I and my sister, Diana, were just 16. He had all the great choreographers, like, Ashton, who created La fille mal gardee, for him, and the divine, Nadia Narina, which is on YT, plus "An evening with the Royal Ballet, 1963," that you might be interested in, just before Rudi, defected, and Margot was my father's dancing partner. It was a hell of a time, and we were such a beautiful, young family. My mother was also, principal dancer with the RB, and later went on to become, a brilliant ballet teacher. I'm desperate to find help to archieve all his works, with ABT, and all the film footage of him, somewhere in London, where I live. The ROH, have been of little help, I wonder why? Maybe, guilt, just total disrespect. x

pediatrapaola Thank you Enrico, for your opinion. Did you know Carla and Erik has a very special bond together, both on and off stage. I should know, as I was there, when we all used to have talks, and meals etc, together, in New York, and in Madrid, where my father, David Blair, made this film together, with them? The handsome, brilliant Marks, and superb ballerina, Toni Lander were married, at this time too. This was made as a FILM, to put bums on seats, to bring back the money, that was so loving made and crafted, for the ordinary people. My father would have chosen very carefully, the divine Fracci AND Bruhn, as at the time, they were at the top, the cream of ballet dancers. It's impossible to please all the people, at the same time! AND the film people, right at the top, who really "pull the strings."

She's wearing the silk tulle tutu that Gelsey Kirkland described in her autobiography. Gelsey admired the graceful way it behaved on stage, and secretly cut off a tiny piece, had the fabric analyzed, and got a tutu custom made for herself at huge expense. The other dancers were wearing synthetic tulle, which was quite serviceable, but not quite as effective as Carla's.

I am putting this segment, 1 of 9, by xxxFreyjaxxx, which is taken from a dvd, and not an old, very badly edited, video, of Erik Bruhn, who is a wonderful ballet dancer who is Danish trained, in the Bournonville style. As you can see by the comments below, pediatrapaola, an expert on Ballet, had a difference of opinion, on Bruhn's style of dancing, and felt the role, should have gone to other male dancers, of that 1969, era. This is my father's, David Blair, film and choreography, along with Hugo Niebling,(whom I know nothing about, I'm sorry to say), However, it was my father's choice, to pair them together, even if they're both trained in such different ballet techniques. He adored the Danish technique, along with ALL different ballet backgrounds, as shown in this, to me, beautiful FILM, and always RESPECTED, all good, hard working, gifted ballet dancers, as he too had worked from 7 years old, to 40 years, with the Royal Ballet, and became their principal dancer at 17 years old. 'd like people to remember that relentless, unconstructive remarks, really do hurt, very deeply, to the family, that are left behind. Please would you think twice, before you go onto a World wide platform, that's KZfaq, and will be seen by all, about your comments. I've been horrified at times, comments made about the present and future, ballet dancers too, which is cruel, cowardly and being a bully. Thank you.

***** Thank you Masha, I do too, but my main point is too respect, embrace, ALL types of ballet techniques, past and present. Constant insults can and indeed do, cost lives, to the artists, who give their all, for our pleasure. Each and everyone, is unique and different, due to their training, and then their gift for dancing, and giving a different feeling. What a BORE, it would be, if every ballet/opera/painter,etc., gave us the same "picture?" I know you THINK, before you comment, and if you don't like it, I don't feel you would repeatedly comment, or watch it on YT, like a "dog with a bone!" Blessings to you.

Barbara Lendaro Thank you Barbara, I do hope you'll have time to view the whole ballet. I'm having a miserable time with someone, who thinks he knows it all, and constantly makes disgraceful remarks, re Erick Bruhn's dancing to me, as if I can change anything, 46 years later, plus it's my father's film, not mine! Please read the comments. Pathetic and sad, distressing, and without any respect. to the late, wonderful dancer. and he calls himself a ballet expert/fan.

+Catherine Blair, I was privileged to work at the Kennedy Center at its opening in 1971, and subsequently up until 2006. I was lucky to see your father's beautiful production. I believe he also did the Swan Lake that ABT had in their rep at the time. Though I did not get to see Fracci/Bruhn paired in this production, I did see them in La Sylphide in what turned out to be Bruhn's final performance as a danseur. He later returned to the stage for character roles, but I feel blessed to have seen this magical team together. I was only 19 at the time, and I just wish I could have appreciated it then as much as I do now.
