Thank you so much for these! I'm with an online school now and we're learning about commits. I couldn't understand a single thing and decided to search for help on youtube. Found your channel and zoomed through quite a few videos already because you made it short and so easy to understand! 5/5 stars
Haha, You're probably the most cool programmer I ever heard from! (I hope you are a programmer XD)

Bucky. does "commit -m" only associate a message for your new modified file? does it not affect the upload of file, so that if I don't "commit", the modified file would have all changes?

if you make changes to a file which is 1k lines of code it will show you all the 1k lines when you make changes??
@wowstuff019 жыл бұрын
Why do you keep adding the files and then committing, and not simply make changes and committing the changes ?

@adamnawrocki69217 жыл бұрын
Insertions werent explained correctly in the video. They deal with lines. If you edit one line, git sees it as one line being added and one line being removed, which would be one insertion and one deletion.

I find it quite annoying that you say "git add ." adds everything. It's adding everything in the current folder, because of the hidden file named "." which represents the current directory, not because it's a predefined command in git, which what average viewers would think when watching your video.

I'd also pronounce it "dot", not "period", but what you point out is more important. Also, "how to edit files" is not the best title for this, however you edit them, this is about how to check in files you have somehow updated. The specific way he edits them isn't the point of the video.
