The president being the chief enforcer of the law does not make him above the law or the law itself. To enforce the law is to uphold the law. All citizens are subject to the law, including all those who enforce the law. If the law determines that its chief enforcer is acting illegally (against the Law) then that enforcer is still subject to the law and can be prosecuted under the law and removed from his or her office of trust.

Mueller was appointed as the Special Counsel in May 2017 which makes this investigation active for less than a year. Since when does someone, anyone, get to dictate to a prosecutor what leads to follow, and who to investigate, when investigating a crime. This is an extremely complex investigation involving many people, multiple countries and multiple potential crimes, and as such, will take time. For the sake of our Democracy, the special prosecutor must be allowed to follow the evidence wherever the evidence leads and anyone who tries to derail this investigation before it comes to a natural conclusion is guilty of obstruction of justice and is possibly a traitor. Why would any patriot not want this investigation to determine what happened in the 2016 election? If Donald Trump is innocent as he claims then he should not only want the investigation to continue, he should be demanding the investigation continue so the facts can be brought out in the open to clear his name. Clearing Donald Trump's name can only happen if this investigation comes to a natural conclusion. It appears that Donald Trump wants his name cleared without an investigation. He wants his name cleared just on his say so. This is like when Putin said he didn't do it and Donald Trump said that was good enough evidence for him; REALLY? Well, that isn't good enough evidence for most Americans. Donald Trump brought this on himself by habitually lying about virtually everything and by attacking anyone who doesn't treat him like he is a King with ZERO accountability to the people. That isn't the American way. America is based on the rule of law and has a right to know what happened and who was involved! If you consider yourself an American patriot who believes in the Constitution and in the rule of law, why would you not want to know the truth, the whole truth and nothing but the truth? Only guilty people try to prevent the truth from being known! President Donald Trump's legal team sent a confidential letter to special counsel Robert Mueller arguing why the president can't illegally obstruct justice, because, the Constitution allows him to. It seems as if the president's attorney's are acknowledging that Donald Trump did, in fact, obstruct justice but they are trying to argue that because he is the president he is above the law and can not be held accountable for his actions! That argument sounds like the same argument that Richard Nixon tried to use when he said: when the president does it, it isn't a crime. That argument didn't work for Richard Nixon and it won't work for Donald Trump. No one can be above the law, period. If a president could do anything he wanted to do with impunity, we would no longer have a system of checks and balances and that would place the Constitution and our democracy at risk. If our forefathers believed that the president was above the law and could not be held to the same standards that all other Americans are held, they would never have provided for the ability to impeach the president. If the president had the power to stop an investigation into potential crimes committed by the president as Donald Trump's attorney's are arguing, he would no longer be a president, he would be a dictator! No one can be permitted to be above the law and no one is above the law in America! There can only be one reason that Donald Trump does not want to sit down with Robert Mueller's team and clear his name as any innocent person would be clamoring to do. The reason is simple, HE ISN'T INNOCENT! Donald Trump is guilty and he knows he is guilty, and he also knows that if he were to sit down with Robert Mueller's team, he would either have to admit his guilt or lie under oath! He doesn't want to risk lying under oath because he doesn't know what the Mueller team already knows that could be used to prove he committed perjury by lying! Trump is claiming that someone on the Mueller team leaked this letter. That sounds like another attempt to discredit the Mueller team and deflect from Donald Trump's guilt by trying to make the Mueller team appear to be corrupt. Of course, Donald Trump makes this wild accusation without any evidence or proof because that is how he operates. He makes unfounded claims which puts people on the defensive and then everyone is scrambling to prove his claims are unfounded, which creates enough media attention to create doubt and concern in the minds of his base. Based on how the Mueller team has conducted itself and how Donald Trump has conducted himself, it would be a much higher probability that someone in Donald Trump's orbit leaked the letter and probably did so with Donald Trump's knowledge and consent!

Accepting a pardon means admitting guilt. This means that if Trump was to offer a pardon, and it was accepted, the recipient could then be called to testify into any investigations/hearings about those events. And, because they had accepted the pardon (and their guilt) they would never be able to do anything other than **give a full and frank testimony** about those events and their actions! :-) By giving pardons, Trump would at best save that 1 person but that person would then be an almost perfect witness (and they would HAVE to be. They couldn't even plead the 5th since they'd have already acknowledged their guilt). The "pardon magic wand" may not be quite the help that Trump and his team assume. [Edit: Just in case anyone is not sure or convinced of this - yes it is established that accepting a pardon DOES mean you are acknowledging one's guilt.]

The broad powers of the Constitution does not extend to the President the right to stop an investigation against himself or his friends and conduct an investigation against his enemies without cause and sufficient evidence of a crime. The Department of Justice is NOT a creature of the President. The President has the right to nominate the Attorney General subject ot confirmation by the Senate, but he and the directors of the FBI and CIA work independently from the Executive Office. As for the assertion that the President cannot be criminally charged because it would interfere with his work- i.e he is too busy, the answer is in the Constitution in the Office of the Vice President who shall act as President when the President is unable to act.

He called Trump a liar and said he gave 5 different explanations of why he fired Comey. One of which is obstruction. Nixon and Clinton both had articles of impeachment drawn up for obstruction. The oath of office is to uphold the laws. If Trump obstructs those laws he is not faithfully executing the law. According to the Constitution Article II Section 3: ...he shall take Care that the Laws be faithfully executed.
