El Diablo 80k on engine how £9500 on my gtr engine made it safe for 1500 bhp (had to spend 12k on the gearbox to bring it to the same spec) so what did they do.
@Big2009Gee7 жыл бұрын
NUCK CHORRIS OK I never said that it would last forever I factored in a rebuild ever 20K the thing is on the standard engine, rods start to bend at just over 650 bhp, depending on how you drive it (I like to launch a lot) so I had a rebuild with forged internals rods and pistons are rated to 250 bhp per set so hence 1500 bhp with my setup I'm running 1250 bhp on ethanol with flex fuel. as for costs yes there were other big costs like turbos (£11k) drive shafts (£2k) cooling system (£5K) my point was how did this guy spend 80k just on the engine. my friends dad has a Sierra cosworth running 380 bhp his rebuild was around 4k.
@Big2009Gee7 жыл бұрын
El Diablo no you can't for 10K, AC speedtech will rebuild a 1500bhp gtr rated engine for under 10k I just wanted to work out how he had spent 80k on just his cosworth engine.
@wonderloaf7 жыл бұрын
He didn't spend £80K on the engine unless it was built several times over. Before anyone shouts, check out my videos - I know Cosworth's pretty well ;)

I spoke with the guy who owned it when I caught him at some shops, the guys was proper down to earth, asked him about the car and the history and so on. How the guy drove it youd think it was rep but oh no it was real, it was his dads who bought it brand new, and has passed it down to him! With nearly 90k on the clock it's done some pretty mileage for car of such value but to him I take my hat off, it's so nice to see such a piece of automotive history actually be used rather then just sat in someone's garage!

It makes me so angry that we didnt get any of the 70s, 80s, or 90s ford sports cars in the US, i would kill for a Sierra Cosworth 4x4 or mk2 Escort! We even got a car called the Merkur XR4TI which looked exactly like a Sierra Cosworth RS but they fucked it up with base model brakes and a sohc "pinto" motor. We also got the mk1 Capri but only in very small numbers as a "test market" so they are almost impossible to find now, same with the Merkur "Scorpio" which was a base model Sierra, i believe they were only sold for one year before ford pulled the "Merkur" line off the American market.
