Nothing's theme is the main temptation I have for trying their phones but the pixel camera and AI features always win. This is a good middle ground. Nothing killed it with their theme

I actually did the exact same steps as this video months before the release of this video in my android 9. I loved nothing os 2.0 so much that I wanted to replicate that by custom launcher. I still use my old android 9 phone with this customized nothing os. Only difference I did is I used icon pack studio to create the exact replica of nothing icons and it works like a charm and all apps are themed in it easily. Another problem I faced in android 9 is nova launcher beta does not switch to light and dark mode properly but the playstore version does. So i used the playstore one.

Hey, if you really want to deep dive into this android customization stuff, I reccomend you to check out custom ROM's. Pixel experience probably supports your device, and you can get a clean version of android 13 running on your device. All of this stuff will still work, it will just be a lot more up to date.

elixir os lets you match the icons with the theme, and has a force icon theme switch, for those apps who disagree with themed looks

Nothing could actually fix the apps to work on other phones. They require some components from their android framework which can also be omitted since they don't really do much and the app works without them. The launcher is a little bit more complicated since it uses some hidden APIs and some system permissions, which again could be switched to alternative ways of doing what they need with public apis. In the end, all the apps has things that they don't really need.

I use a Redmi note 10 pro and if xiaomi users use a 3rd party launchers we can only use them with on screen buttons xiaomi wont let you use gestures with any launchers

phone manufacturers like Samsung will modify the version of Android they ship out sometimes adding new features or changing the default look. so Nothing OS is just a modified version of android you can have pre-installed on your device assuming you buy a nothing phone

Nvm i made my own Nothing-inspired widgets using KWGT, used Lawnchair magisk module and Material You Icon Pack. There is no monochrome theme on A13 so i paid for Repainter and made monochrome theme manually. Now i have cozy Nothing-inspired look and it works seamlessly without broken animations like when you using simple 3rd party launcher

I discovered everything is changeable on oneui home using a root sql editor. Quite nice having the google bar 1x1 in the quick dock.
