This khutbah was given on May 6th, 2016 at Colleyville Masjid.
Verse 85 of Surat An-Nisaa tackles the issue of making honest vs. dishonest
recommendations. In his explanation of the verse, Nouman Ali Khan
emphasizes that this public and civic responsibility should not be taken lightly
because in the eyes of Allah an undeserved recommendation, whether good or
bad, has grave ramifications both for the person giving it and the one receiving
it. At the end of the day, it is Allah who provides.

once my Yemeni maid advised me to say SubhanAllah when I am tired or upset instead of saying 'uff ' as i used to say. few years back we met a horrific car accident and 'SubhanAllah ' was on my lips at that moment of time and we are saved Alhumdulillah. this is also a shafaa. plz pray that Firdous ,the maid,will get the place in AlFirdous.

I'm gonna say this with zero disrespect intended. This is "beef" done by the way of The Sunnah. Ustadh Nouman along with many of my other favorite speakers have a lot of "haters." They literally go out of their way to do everything they can to warn us against them. Instead of stopping to these negative people's level and giving them a response directly, he does things like this. He gives incredible references from Quran and Sunnah to prove why these people are acting "un-Islamically" and not only that, then continues to teach us how we SHOULD be acting! Mash'Allah!!!!! 🙌

Jazak Allah Khair. Your interpretation has give a whole new perspective to look at going good towards others. Each ayah of the Quran is loaded with wisdom and when you explain them with such clarity, it urges one to adopt all the goodness in themselves. May Allah give you good health and long life.Ameen

SubhanAllah, how a small good act of recommendation can multiply reward after reward as it helps more than just the person you directly helped. And also giving a recommendation that is completely wrong can go against us. Jazzaka Allahu Khayr for bringing our attention to something that isn't very well known.

This is just incredible, this khutbah. Subhanallah, It has come to me as hope. I have been asking one of my teachers for a recommendation letter cause I'm applying for an abroad scholarship but she isn't responding to me. She's ignoring my messages and not picking my call. I'm a topper in my class but still, I cannot get a recommendation letter. This was badly depressing me and I was crying that what should I do and suddenly this khutbah appeared to me. And this is true that it is Allah who provides, no matter you get a bad recommendation or goo or even you don't get any. Jazakallah!

Allah SWT says: مَّنْ يَشْفَعْ شَفٰعَةً حَسَنَةً يَكُنْ لَّهُۥ نَصِيبٌ مِّنْهَا ۖ وَمَنْ يَشْفَعْ شَفٰعَةً سَيِّئَةً يَكُنْ لَّهُۥ كِفْلٌ مِّنْهَا ۗ وَكَانَ اللَّهُ عَلٰى كُلِّ شَىْءٍ مُّقِيتًا "Whoever intercedes for a good cause will have a reward therefrom; and whoever intercedes for an evil cause will have a burden therefrom. And ever is Allah, over all things, a Keeper." (An-Nisaa 4: Verse 85)

Oh, you are SO spot on!! I always put in a good word when I can, and people think I am stupid for helping someone for no reason. And don't get me started on the single Moms, and the 'beautiful behavior' exhibited by people at 'Al-xyz' in Pakistan, big religious organization. (not naming them)

***** I don't think he shaved, I'm his student. We saw him two days ago! And I think you need to chill... brother. Wether he shaves or wears glasses or whatever does not actually mean anything, it has no islamic meaning or whatever, just personal preference, so get OVER it please! For example, the Prophet (saws) was fond of cats, his favourite colours were green&white, he had long hair, etc... We all have personal preference, as long as it's halal, it's great! Ustadh Nouman is contributing to the Ummah in an AMAZING way, that's all that counts. May Allah bless him and bless us all ! Salams

Thank you. Maybe something needs to be mentioned about how innocent comments can build or destroy not just reputation, but impact the character of the initiator/responder and in turn stray us further away from doing good deeds. Great examples of what implications our words carry and definitely ask God for guidance. I may add not to be relying entirely on one human recommendation or source rather accumulation of information, especially when the stakes are high.

Weird question I know, but this is a really great way to receive good deeds, but I'm sure if you overdo it by almost forcing others to get a job etc, it can be detrimental

+SABAH NORE if you have your captions tab open then you would read the wrong subtitles.. bcos it's automated and whenever there is an islamic term the captions are messed up..originally the video has no captions from the uploaders

p subhanallah your lectures are always subhanallah but this one the Shiva the s h i f f a is one of the most spot on perfect and every way to get people to understand that when they give you're not doing you any favors that it is your right if you are all of those that fall into these categories and I am multiple times over and address is it it address is it perfectly step by step so even though hard headed ones can understand open their hearts not just their wallets
