Giving a woman with PTSD a FREE kitchen reboot after recent diagnosis of lupus

The woman I am helping in this video has PTSD after being kidnapped and held captive as a teenager. She is extremely lucky to be alive after her traumatic ordeal. She also was recently diagnosed with lupus, an autoimmune disorder, that causes her to be fatigued and have tremors among other things. I will be rearranging her kitchen to be more accessible for her as it is difficult for her to reach the top shelves or to use a stool to do so. She is a Pampered Chef and Tupperware consultant/distributor and wants to host events at her home, so we also tried to create a cleaner space for these events.

Me too I have Lupus and I get the tremors through my body I never know when it going to hit but it is usually when I have overdone it I also have ME/CFS so I am mainly in bed always had my house so clean but not able to do much cleaning now it sucks

Besides watching cleaning videos, I love to watch lawn care transformation. Something about overgrown back yard jungles with trash, the sound of a lawn mower, weed wacker, edger, and the sound of a shovel digging up a buried sidewalk or the sound of a pressure washer and I'm so happy. 😊

I agree. The scrubbing sounds are okay but I'm kinda here to hear the stories and watch the transformation that is accomplished. I am a person who enjoys cleaning because I just love seeing a mess go away and the satisfaction of knowing things are cleaner and tidied up 😊

I was kidnapped at the age of 5 and was kept for two days before I escaped. Quite traumatic. I'm lucky to have gotten away. I can imagine what this person went through. She's a strong person to have survived, stronger still to share some of her experience. Thank you for helping her 🥰

I had accepted a diagnosis of RLS (restless leg syndrome) many years ago. Then recently I started to have shooting pain up my left leg and I knew it was a new symptom. Went to the doctor and was told it was neuropathy. The gabapentin does help with some of the pain and I can sleep, but the balls and heel of my feet when I walk feels like I'm walking on glass. Extremely painful now during waking hours. After hearing Sara tell us herself how she was diagnosed; I'm going back to the doctor and demanding an autoimmune test because I know there's something wrong and I want more than the label neuropathy. Thank you Sara!

I’m not a doctor by any means but your restless leg syndrome reminded me of a friend of mine. She got really bad at night with her legs cramping up and making her and her husband lose a lot of sleep. She looked into “Grounding” bed sheets and got a set and within a few days, her leg cramps went away. When she’s not on those sheets (like when she’s out of town), her cramps come back, and then they go away again once she’s back home on her sheets. I ordered a set for me and for my mom. I didn’t have that kind of issue so I don’t really “feel” a difference, but I use them anyway because I still believe in the science behind them. But my mom’s nightly leg cramps went away too. And my friend gave a set to her own mom who is in her 80s and she feels a difference as well. Watch the documentary “Grounding” first (although I skip over the one guy’s rant about the universe and whatever, I really wish they didn’t add that part because it takes away from the science in my opinion, you’ll see what I mean when you watch it). If you decide to purchase them, when you get to the end of the purchase online, it’ll have an offer for 30% off an additional set, but decline that offer and then it’ll have a 60% off offer for an additional set. That’s what I did to get mine and my mom’s. Make sure you really read the instructions and launder them correctly. Best wishes!

That is a great idea to demand more testing. Sometimes that's what it takes to get the answers you need... you need to be that squeaky wheel. I also take gabapentin for neuropathy and it helps so much. I am on a pretty low dose and have tried to get off of it before to see if the neuropathy was still there and within the first day I could feel the pain start in my heel and radiate up the back of my leg, so I'm thinking I will probably be on it lifelong. Fortunately it's a very low dose.

My daughter-in-law has lupus (attacks her heart), hashimotos (the thyroid), and rheumatoid arthritis (can cause freezing of joints). She is only 46 and the lupus is getting worse, but she pushes through.

You’re not alone, pimple popping and ear cleaning put me to sleep every night. I can’t do the mango worms though. Bonnie, you may already know this, but the leading cause of lung cancer in non-smoking women is the use of household cleaners. Unfortunately, the only thing that filters it out is a respirator, which is too hard to use while working. But if you can open windows and use exhaust fans, at least you can direct it away from you somewhat. Watch about spraying cleaners into a warm area, like the microwave. This creates the worst kind of vapors.

My mom used to cover the drip pans with aluminum foil when she couldn't get them clean anymore. Then when the foil got dirty she would replace it with new foil. Cheaper way for my mom to keep those clean in her mind.

I just got diagnosed with autoimmune stuff too (not lupus) and I’ve been reading that a HUGE percentage of people with trauma have autoimmune diseases of some sort so it seems to be triggered by years of stress 😢 but for someone with that level of trauma, she’s doing so well ❤

Yes, I have read that, too. It does seem that trauma triggers autoimmune issues. She really is an amazing lady. For all she has been through, it's just incredible that she is doing as well as she is. I'm so sorry you have autoimmune issues. That is such a long and hard road!😔

Thank you. Yes, I love the lawn mowing and yard cleanup videos. I keep telling my husband he needs to start a channel doing that. If I wasn't so heat intolerant, I would totally do something like that. I love yard work, but the last 4 years or so, I can't handle anything over about 75 degrees or I get really fatigued and light-headed for some reason. I used to be able to work in 100° Heat and be just fine as long as I was drinking enough water, but something changed in the last 4 years and it drives me crazy because I love working outside, but now I have to take frequent breaks to cool down.🤷‍♀️

Though she may not feel it, she is a very strong woman. I am disabled with degenerative disc disease and stage four osteoarthritis after 26 surgeries, have always been OCD neat, clean and organized but not able to do a third of what I could before. She couldn’t ask for a more hard working, compassionate person than you to reach out and help her. No skirt on here 😂 and a faithful subscriber since you started your journey❤. For the fridge, to make it easier to access items that slip to the back, you can buy clear plastic "boxes" without lids. Then she can slide the box forward to get at the items. I have 3 in my fridge and use them as "drawers". I keep the same items in the boxes so that I know exactly where to look and I don't have to reach deep into the fridge to get things. Maybe also she can find a way to store the boxes she needs for her business. Doggo was so cute (he needs a little bath!)

I'm so jealous of the washer and dryer in the kitchen. I have chronic pain and fatigue and doing laundry is the most painful thing I do most weeks because I have to go back and forth to the basement for it.

Sorry to hear that. 😞 I'm sure that is so difficult. I don't usually tell everyone this because I don't want them to think I'm a Nut Job, but I will tell you something that has helped me so much for my chronic pain. You would never even guess I have chronic pain because of the work that I do and I think staying active has really helped a lot with my chronic pain, but the thing that helps the most is low dose naltrexone. I will let you Google and research it on your own, but it's something that my pain management doctor put me on and it has been a life changer. It's not an opiate. It's actually the opposite of an opiate, which I know sounds kind of weird, but it basically tricks the body into producing more of the pain relieving endorphins. If you do look it up, just look up LDN for chronic pain. See if it's right for you. It also has helped with my fatigue.

amazing job transforming her spaces, the only thing I would have done different is to keep the bleach away from the stove in case of a food fire, bleach and flammable cleaners near the stove could potential ignite.

I love watching cleaning videos because I learn a lot by watching. Can't stand inappropriate medical video's like pimples poping because they don't test for the bacteria that is causing the infection, or treat the cause of the problem.

I have family and friends with autoimmune diseases. Their journey to diagnosis was similar to Sara's. Even though there is no cure, she at least has an answer as to what is ailing her. I wish her all the luck in the world. She is a warrior. Also Bonnie, our KZfaq watch lists are super similar. It is disgusting to some but I think the satisfaction for us comes from the relief we know the person/animal feels. It is an empathetic response.

I'm hoping it will be sometime this year, but looking at my calendar, it's getting pretty full already for the rest of the year, so maybe in January when things are a little slow, I can fly to the Netherlands and do a collaboration with her. So I went to declutter my utensil drawer, moved a few things around, moved a few more things around, got discouraged, closed my drawer, I may go back to another day. 😂 Love your videos. I really love that you explaine what you are doing and how you do it. Cleaning is a learned behavior so it really helps. As someone with ADHD it doesn't come naturally to me, especially the orgaizing. Which is really against my nature because I really really desire organization in my life. I love watching videos of people labeling everything in their homes. I can picture in my head having a craft room with labeled shelves, and a peg board with all my tools neatly placed.

That's hilarious about the utensil drawer! I really would have loved to have labeled everything in this craft room, but I didn't have time and I also thought it would be better for her to do that so that she could see exactly where I put stuff. However, when I go to Mira's to work on her scrapbook room, hopefully we will be able to get labels on everything since she will be there with me organizing it and we can actually get it organized to perfection. That's the hope anyway!

I also have PTSD from childhood abuse, and Rheumatoid Arthritis. I was always organized because mess makes me so anxious. Lately, i have been unable to be totally neat and organized. I’m trying to learn to live with this.

I so wish someone like you lived near me. I can not do my closets...I over last few years,two reverse shoulder replacement s and this year, broken collarbones. Healing from last one now. Falls. I'm 66 and just can't do the things I once did. You are a treasure!

To have someone who is non judgmental of my "stuff" would also be a plus. I do my daily living..found a sticky roller is great to clean around my carpet (I do paper crafting such as junk style journals) when too much to vaccum. Thank you again!

Mango worms, Mischa was the best. I miss his videos, but agree with him, he was in Gambia for so many years and most of the people just didn’t care enough to treat their animals properly. So sad! 💔😓💔

😊 Hi Bonnie. You mentioned that you like popping pimple videos , ear wax removal, etc. and so do I. The more body excretion being removed the better. Also it makes me happy knowing that the person receiving the services are getting the help they need to have a better quality of life. Sometimes when watching an ear wax removal video I'm on the edge of my seat screaming at the TV saying "you missed a spot!" 😂

Thank you! Yes, I love a challenge. I have a lot of power tools and love to do woodworking and build things. At least I did before I started this channel and got too busy to do that, but hopefully soon I will have the ability to get back to that stuff because I miss my other hobbies! I literally had to pause this video and look up mango worms. I'd never heard of them. That was crazy!! I've never been able to handle ear cleaning for some weird reason but I love pimple popping videos and I also like really good pedicure videos where people who can't take care of their feet are having their feet cared for by somebody really skilled. My favorite right now is Podología Integral. But now I'm about to watch the rest of this video, you've been cracking me up, you're so funny Bonnie! I always enjoy your videos, I like the voice over because you have a different perspective as opposed to while you are doing it. You have a very pleasant voice to listen to as well. I am sorry that you had to put up that disclaimer. The world is not as it used to be, the good and the bad. At 69 I am finding it harder to understand how people can be so mean sometimes.
