Something important to keep in mind as you continue watching: most of the Demon Slayer corps have lost someone in their life to demons. And when they join they’ve seen countless of other fellow demon slayers be killed. They have all seen and experienced the cruelty and violence of demons firsthand. They’re not heartless, just hurt. They can’t sympathize with demons because of what demons did to their loved ones.

yall gotta notice how Rui, the LM5 is pretty much Muzan's favorite Lower Moon demon. like for example: - He allowed Rui to create a pretend family when Muzan's rule was that demons aren't allowed to band and work together as a team. - Muzan who favors people that are strong makes his way to Rui who is the very opposite of what Muzan wants in a person. - When Rui was grieving and pretty much sitting in his house with his dead parents, Muzan could've just let him be since there's a lot of people who he can turn into one but he made the effort into coming to him personally, convincing him to join the other side and get stronger.

The Twelve are the ones that prove themselves after becoming demons. Meaning the ones that devour the most humans and kill the most Demon Slayers. If he sees potential in them, he infuses them with more and more of his blood.

I love how symbolic the blood demon arts are - Rui's string blood demon art represents the bond he shattered, a constant reminder of what he had done with his own bare hands, hence why the string comes out from his finger-nails, string acting as a broken tether to the bond he craves for after he 'snapped' it.

Some translation that makes you understand meaning of them better. Kizuki = moon demon. The upper and lower actually mean waxing and waning in Japanese. Hashira = the pillar. The highest rank of demon slayer corp. Hinokami (Kagura) = (Dance of) fire god

(Not spoilers ) he doesn’t exactly chose the 12 kizuki , he travels around and randomly chooses to turn humans who’d he think would make a good fit into regular demons , then after years those demons become stronger by eating people and can challenge one of the 12 to a fight and take their spot if they win , while lower 6 being the weakest and upper 1 being the strongest demon besides muzan , and while the lower 6 tend to change members everyonce in a while , the upper six have had the same members for 113 years

I'm a Persian Gulf War veteran and I remember our Drill Sergeant absolutely losing it and making us run for miles with all our gear and weapons because someone said "corpse" instead of "core." Muzan doesn't chose the twelve kizuki when he first turns them into demons, if he sees potential in one of them he will give them more blood but they already have to be pretty strong for him to consider doing that.

No, Hashira (means Pillar) were tops of the tops in the Corps, so they must never break the rules, remain steadfast to set the example to their juniors, because as the name means, the Pillars were the ones who shouldered the entire Demon Slayer Corps. So when Giyuu-san saved Nezuko & Tanjiro, he already prepared to be brought down, ridiculed and got harsh punishment. But he already saved them once and will always take the responsibility of his decision till THE END. Yes, a liiitle spoiler here, HE WILL PROTECT AND TAKE RESPONSIBILITY OF TANJIRO AND NEZUKO'S CIRCUMSTANCE TILL THE END. He is a man among men, and that's why I love him, he is my most favorite, the only one! And you'll see the scale of him 'take the responsibility' (only part of it actually) in the next episode.. The one episode which cemented Giyuu-san as my top of the tops, made me fell harder for him..

Shinobu isn't a Karen A demon slayer traveling with a demon is against corp. rules (hence the title) because of how dangerous it is. Shinobu isn't strict with rules she's just trying to make sure no one else gets hurt. As a Hashira she knows all too well what it's like to lose someone you love she doesn't want anyone else to go thru the pain and suffering she did.

Most people in this world do not know about the existence of demons (or just heard myths about them), so people that actually join the demon slayer corps are usually people that have encountered one which means a friend or family has been killed. All of them has seen countless humans killed by demons that try to kill them as well and NONE has ever encountered someone like nezuko. Would make sense that no one would ever consider a good demon to ever exist

I cried ugly in this episode when they showed his backstory... I had to pause and take a minute to calm down XD then there was the scene of shinobu bullying giyu to lighten the mood ofc

You guys know that giyu sparing nezuko a demon is a no no in the demon slayers but soon enough you’ll realize how much of a risk it was for giyu, literally put his whole career lifes work and life on the line for them

So how it works with the twelve kizuke is there lower 6 and upper 6 it's doesn't go from lower 1 to upper 12 so all the twelve kizuke members only have the number of 1 to 6 either being lower or upper. So lower 6 being the weakest and lower 1 being the strongest same with upper moons 6 being the weakest and 1 being the strongest but the upper moons like upper 6 is going to be stronger then lower 1. I hope this makes sense again another awesome reaction can't wait for the next episode!.

They are supposed to be strict about killing demons. Don't forget that Nezuko's case is one of a kind and all these centuries, demons have been ruthless in killing human beings. So naturally Shinobu was hellbound in killing the demon (Nezuko) because that's how it should be for the demon slayers - that's their job and they've witnesses all demons being horrible and man-eating. If i was shinobu, I would have done the same.

The Spider's (broked) Family Arc was awesome! So much emotions, action and feelings. Relationship between characters, battle effects and goals... Everything was on the top!

Theyre all Hashiras. Just to name a couple. The guy with yellow/red hair is Rengoku the Flame Hashira. 2 swords is Uzui the Sound Hashira. The praying crying guy is Gyomei the Stone Hashira. Of course you already know the insect and water ones. Rengoku is hands down my favourite.

I just wanna say that after season 1, for the next arc, you guys should watch the movie version first instead of the 7 episode adaptation the movie was eventually made into before season 2 officially came out!! The movie has wayyy more impact than the 7 episodes, since it cut off at some pretty weird places for the ending of some episodes, which would most likely take away the full experience when you compare it to the movie! If it was made as a movie, it's probably better in movie format HAHA! Great reactions guys, you'll love Demon Slayer more and more as you continue watching it

Noooo pls don't call shinobu a karen 💀💀 she's just doing her job XD and she doesn't know anything about nezuko or the fact that she hasn't devoured humans... She's probably one of the few lenient hashiras... The other ones are much more uptight. We sympathize with those two because they're main characters and we've seen their journey, but for people like shinobu, she has seen over 80 comrades killed on this very mountain, for someone who has witnessed a demon commit such a massacre and then lie about it, it's only natural that she isn't willing to take any chances with any other demons.

When y'all get to the movie,I'd suggest you watch through it as the episodic version just because there's a bit more content and it feels better cut together at some parts.

Giyu is my fav cosplay. His haori has two patterns, part of his back story. One of the patterns is in an earlier episode. Giyu's haori patterns have deep meaning.

I highly recommend you guys watch the first episode of s2 mugen train arc , then the movie. (Obviously after you're done with season 1) The movie in episode format gets rid of the suspense. It's really fun to watch it all in one go.. then you can properly start season 2 earlier :)

You may have noticed, but the location on Rui's back where his father placed his hand is the same as the place where Tanjiro placed his hand. I think that Tanjiro is a truly kind young man who, unlike other Demon Slayers, doesn't just take demons' heads, but can also free them from the curse of resentment and regret that made them demons in the first place.

in this world very few people are aware that demons exist. so as others said most demon slayers have had something happen in their life that was affected by a demon( mostly losing people) that drove their conviction to become demon slayers.

Well she ain't a karen bcoz Demon Slayer Corps isn't our local supermarket XD...She has to follow the rules to save others...She doesn't know that this is an exceptional case...and Giyu is bad with words so it's really hard for her to understand...😬

Shinobu is not a karen. She may be creepy but I like her somehow esp when she keeps teasing Giyu 😅🤣 (kinda spoiler). She simply follows the rules as demon slayer corps (just like how she stopped after being ordered to bring them alive). They simply haven't seen demon like Nezuko & Tamayo. (Spoiler...or not really) They witnessed too many people they loved or their comrades or well, humans, being killed by demons (with some being killed right in front of their own eyes). Giyu also wanted to kill Nezuko at first too (similar reaction with Shinobu here) but he saw Nezuko protecting Tanjiro so he decided to spare them (Shinobu doesn't see this). Still, it was risky decision for him. After around two years, Giyu sees Nezuko is still with Tanjiro and the fact Tanjiro is still alive means it's a proof that Nezuko never really devours humans so he knows it still worths it to defend them and his decision won't change. (It's more about opinion up to the current episode here~try hard not so give spoilers). Remember this one thing: whatever your first impression of any characters in this anime, keep your mind open...at least, until you know their back stories. Even if they look good at first, who knows. Even if they look bad at first, who knows. In this anime, back stories may change the game.

As far as I'm aware, Giyu's only reason for believing in Nezuko is by seeing what he (and probably any other demon slayer) simply could never believe by being told, and that was Nezuko protecting Tanjiro even after being stabbed after Tanjiro had been knocked out. If there is a deeper meaning behind his belief in them, I look forward to seeing it in the anime, because I don't wanna read ahead of the anime and spoil any surprises

This is a theory, and after this episode i think i can say this safely- there is probably something akin to a "spirit realm" in the demon slayer universe. Where the souls of these dead people stay behind. Like tanjiros family, sabito and makomo, and now ruis parents. I think they can interact with humans or demons to a certain degree(sabito and makomo). Some of them probably wait around to decide weather they're going to heaven or hell... Like Rui's parents who stuck around so they could take him with them. Then there's the spirits of tanjiros family who probably stayed to help them in battle. This has happened several times, when they're spacing out during a fight someone in the family will jump in and alert them.

It seems even Michael Jackson doesn’t know who would be powerful as demon so that’s why he temporary attack people and make them demons. Twelve Kizuki members just appeared to be strongest of all the demons and Michael Jackson gives them the numbers from the strongest to 12th. I guess he’s really good at taking advantage of their griefs so they become as powerful as how deep their griefs were when they were humans.

Muzan doesn't choose humans to become the 12 kizuki. He chooses demons that have the potential to become strong or useful to his goals.

Btw, you guys mentioned about the twelve kuzuki, that they start of weak and are easily manupulated, which is kind of correct. You see, muzan gives them his own blood to make them extremely strong, ones who complete his desires get more of it, but muzan can kill any demon at will whenever he wants to, because he can control his own blood cells. Meaning if any demon tries to oppose him, he can explode his blood cells in the demon, killing them. Also, the way he chooses the twelve is kind of like final selection for demons. This scene is shown in the movie and season 2.

you will know on the next episode why Giyu protected them so badly when he recognized them both :)

This has probably been stated already, but the demons rise in the ranks of the 12 moons. The more they kill and eat, the stronger they get. Since you've already seen this far, but SPOILER ALERT for those that haven't. The demon we saw with Daki and Gyutaro, the one with limbs hanging over his shoulders, was Upper 6 back then.

I think you can keep in mind that case like nezuko has never happened before (other than Lady Tomioka, but no one really knew about her either) .. The Hashira DON'T know that nezuko has never devoured humans and even then, there's still a chance nezuko as a demon will kill human and it will be hard for them to risk that .. they also never experience it firsthand fighting alongside nezuko, they never spend times together with nezuko to really know her They are also demon slayers .. their whole purpose in life is to protect humans and kill demons with their own personal backgrounds & reasons where I'm pretty sure they have their own horrible experience with demons .. perhaps try to be more understanding about the demon slayers' positions and see it from their perspective when you go into the next episodes 😊

Being a Hashira, as exhibited by Giyuu and Kocho, they have to to be always follow the Corps' rule, be firm and assertive to be able to set an example to lower rank slayers. Problem is, like in the flashback of Rui's family, some became arrogant and cannot gauge the opponent's capability. Getting themselves killed. Btw, Kocho is my favorite Hashira, followed by Rengoku and the other you will get to know soon. You'll know it's him because ...

Dunno if I should say this, but I think I can. There are 9 Hashiras in total and Insect Hashira that looks so cool is the weakest of them. That would be how strong they are. Tomyoka is about middle.
